The stronger the better. Why would any city hire weak guards?

Yeah, they should replace them with mudcrabs. -sarcasm- They're supposed to be, especially after those bruma gaurds in OB.. :whistling:

Isn't that because guards are semi-levelled, so they start out higher than you but you catch up to them eventually.

Supposedly the level system is different from oblivion. (Though I do not have the game yet, so I can't really tell)

Oblivion city guards could have been decent, but they had two problems, not only was their gear crap but they used light armor while having heavy armor as major skill.

I'm playing on Adept and it's much more challenging.

And the more challenging, the better of course!

Then be a man and bump it up to Master!

But to the OP what is your level? I would be dissapointed if we could easily defeat guards straight after breaking out Helgen.

If you're good enough you should be able to take on a lone guard with the right tactics.

I remember playing Oblivion on medium difficulty back in the day and being slaughtered my first time, but my third or fourth time I brought one lone guard down out on the road. It was a tough fight but I did it.

Just because you prefer something doesn't always mean your bosses will give it to you.

Isn't that the point... the guards are there so you don't ruin the city, they have to be strong enough to defeat you.

Just do the main quest. You will have good chances of getting the whiterun guard armor while at one of the quests. Several if you are lucky.
