Lighting differences

Hey guys, was wondering if anyone knew if Bethesda took a path away from darkness without using torches, judging by the videos i have seen, nothing really looks THAT dark without a torch in hand or having to light the way. It just seems naturally brighter in dungeons, have they mentioned this anywhere or are there videos of the contrary? Just curious as i remember alot of things in oblivion being very, very bleak and dark.

I remember reading in someones preview that the caves and such actually feel like caves, specifically mentioning how they differed from the underground sun that seemed to illuminate OB's dungeons.

Change your brightness setting to you preference would also help.

I think it's quite the opposite. In Oblivion I never had to use a torch, because the caves were never dark. I *think* I've heard developers say that they made the dungeons darker though.

the dungeons arent very dark at all. I've only been in 4 so far, but they're definitely not dark. Nothing like the forts in oblivion.

Even nighttime in this game is barely dark - I can see perfectly fine. When I use nighteye at night, I see no difference in what I'm actually able to see.

Dungeons have more illuminated sections, along with luminous plants that give off a good amount of ambient light. Oblivion tried this but didnt space the plants out enough, so you had massive dark sections followed by blue glowed sections.

Since skyrims dungeons are custom design, they are designed to be ambient lighted by multiple sources depending on where you are. Higher levels of dungeons have ambient light through cracks leading to the surface, where lower ones either have fires, lamps, torches, or illuminous plant life that bring a good level of light to the area.

Suffice to say, the dungeons are darker in feel, they feel more "underground" however, at the same time, they are better lit, by various points.
