No Skyrim for Greece! WTF?

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 12:33 am

Hi,I'm a pc gamer from Greece and long time fan of Bethesda and its games.
I've been waiting for Skyrim since the day it was announced on the VGAs,and all that time passed with me hyped and anxiously waiting for the game to be released.
Some months ago I felt bad when I learned that Bethesda would not ship the Collector's edition of Skyrim at Greece at all.
So I decided that I will buy the simple version of the game.

After months of waiting and reading the forums and your blogs daily, the day of 11-11-11 has come, and I went to the stores to buy my copy of Skyrim.
But I had a very unpleasent surprize: There was no Skyrim for me to buy.
I went to different stores and asked them all,and what they told me was that Skyrim's release will be 2 WEEKS later than the rest of the world for Greece, because Bethesda decided to send all copies of the game Greece would normally recieve to the UK,to make sure that every Brittish will have an available copy of the game the first day.
And based on assumptions you leave a whole country without the game for 2 weeks...
Thank you very much!!!!
I'm furious.

Inserted.

Sorry I had to. I'm literally in the middle of typing out a 25 page report on the Greek debt Crisis.

BTW, LOVE Greek people. Have you tried steam? At least it isn't December 8th like Japan.

More likely they pulled that answer out of nowhere because no one's told them anything. That could be a supplier issue, not Bethesda.

Wouldn't suprise me if the store employees have been saving the games for friends and people who'll slip them a bit extra under the table. I live near a local store here in the UK where three employees were fired last year for doing just that.

Also the remarks from other users about Greece's economy are unfair and unneccesary. They don't help anyone and could serve as flamebait, which would bring the mods down on you.

What does that have to do with it ?
What happens with Skyrim isn't something ordinary.
It's a publisher related issue.
EA,Sony,Nintendo,Blizzard etc treats us much better here with official events, exclusives, festivals, tournaments, midnight releases, and localizing their games...
Bethesda is the odd one out.

Bethesda did it right! The other companies like EA will follow the way of Bethesda, because they know who is able to pay there debits back!!!!

AGreed with this post.

After all. Everyone knows that Bethesda's Community and Public Relations is the best example of that you can possibly find for any professional company.

Politics have nothing to do with gaming..
EA has actually started paying more attention than ever last year.
They even let us play their games before anybody else by making exclusive before release events.
Activision is teaming with local artists and make promotional rock concerts, and the streets are full of Nintendo street promoters every time there is a big release.

This is even worse than what happened to me. This is how the pre-orders work in Finland:
My copy of Skyrim has been shipped on Tuesday, so I was waiting my mail to receive Skyrim yesterday, post came - no Skyrim. I was sure it will be here today at least it is pre-ordered and as I understand should be here today. I waited until my mail came - NO SKYRIM! I went mad, totally mad and really angry against the company which sold the Skyrim-pre-order to me. Then they let me know they didn't sent it to me from my own country - they sent it from their main storage which is located in Sweden! "You'll get it someday on the next week, have a nice weekend."

Closed for unecessary comments regarding the OP's country. You guys should know better :glare:

Alithinos, game is still available to you through Steam or even D2D. I feel for you for not being able to get a physical copy, but this isn't really the place to voice your situation. If you want it to be heard, send a mail directly to Bethesda.
