Sneak Disappointed

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 4:16 pm

Minor disappointment. Made my character Rashir Nashida, and then I was going to play him as a sneak based character. Fat chance that was. The only thing I was able to sneak attack was a Drauger because it was laying down like a dead body. [Zombie and suvrival horror games have taught me if it's in tact then it's not dead so I attack dead things]. Anyway I was highly disappointed. I was being detetcted to often and in the first minute of the game my allies are ruining my alalalala sneak mode by making the enemies detect me. -.-

Should get better once you're not a novice in Sneak.

errr you haven't been playing long enough to get your sneak level high enough for it to be worthwhile i don't think! did you say in the 1st min of the game?

Increase your sneak skill and leave your companions behind. A rogue always works alone, the shadows are your only friend.

^

Journeying without companions will often get your skills up quicker than having them do all the work for you.

Actually there is one early Companion quest where an NPC will follow you and you have no choice in the matter. But yeah, level sneak up some more and it won't be a problem.

In Oblivion's "tutorial" thing you had an area for sneak skills against a goblin. And it was minorally easy to run around the dungeons getting my sneak up in the starter dungeon cave thingy. In here it's like, sneak no you cannot do that.

yeah its tougher, especially later on since you cant sneak around faster. you're a slug the whole time, but its still viable. (also, the walking sneak speed is horrendously SLOW. jeebus)

Also, the bossfights are designed for mages and melee in mind. You can NOT sneak attack a horde of 7 zombies who are scripted to step out of tombs at the same moment. And you cannot fight them off like a sneaky thief. You've got to warrior-it-up, which is kind of lame for bethesda to do.

The scripted spawn animations makes it impossible to sneak-attack many monsters.
Also, almost all of the humanoids are places in conversation arrangements, meaning if you sneak up to one of them, the other one will see you straight ahead.

Yeah Im kinda disappointed about trying to build an assassin character. Sneaking is horrendously slow and it doesnt seem like you can speed things up with perks.

there's the roll, but im not sure how fast it lets you go since i havent unlocked it yet

I do know that h2h stealth is impossible, since you can't improve the modifier for h2h stealth attacks. you're stuck with 2x forever for some really stupid, stupid reason.

Having no issues with sneak here. First sneak perk made a huge difference. Keep in mind that half open eye doesn't mean you're detected yet.

Edit: No idea if difficulty level has an impact, I'm playing on Expert. Also I'm an Orc so I started out without any bonuses to sneak and archery.

YOu can go faster with sneak toggling the run/walk key. But i agree much that any movement in walking is awesomely too slow. IRL i can t walk that slowly without getting angry and start to wlak faster. A patch, mod is needed.

Complaining on not being able to sneak on someone first lvl, or with sneak inferior to let say 50 is idiotic.

Sneak perks are set up for that.

You can run away and get out of sight..

So I kind of cheated with my stealth:

-1 I restarted and remade my character. [Part of it was I have character woes until they turn out perfect] While in the beginning cave dungeon, I did a sneak attack on the woman we save and was able to lvl up to lvl 2....lol, then I took my perk

-2 Just walk around and bump your stealth, up I know cheap. But I really wanted a character that used backstabs not bow and arrow

-3 Which leads me to my next thing. I do stealth kills in bow and arrow for ranged enemies. If I'm close enough I sneak backstab with duel weild daggers. [Which proved to be a fail because Nord bandit stands in front of tree. Me behind Nord bandit go in for stealth kill, tree blocks my backstab. -.-]
