Guard Behavior

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 4:20 am

I accidentally let out a shout against an NPC, but it was just the pushback one and it barely hurt them.

Suddenly, all the guards are flocking to me. But not to ask how I will pay for my crime, no, they want me dead.

I try talking to them, nope. I try blocking and talking to them to surrender, nope. I try running away? Arrows fly, death follows closely.

I loaded my game and did it again, thinking it was just a glitch. Nope. They want my blood on the pavement. Anyone else experiencing this?

Welcome to Skyrim.

I see they have cut and pasted the AI from Oblivion...

Hell yes!

Little will they know, the terror that awaits them XD

After all. If everyone fears the dragons, and the dragons fear dragonborn...

Yeah. You see where I'm going with this

Yeah. The AI is really being too strict. Forces me to do a lot of quick-saves.

Hopefully this isn't intentional, I'll wait for the patches before buying.

I thought the whole AI thing was supposed to be more reasonable this time around. For example, if I just steal a tomato, I'm not supposed to get called "criminal scum", am I right?

Hey, I'd rather be called criminal scum and pass a few gold coin than to be chased down and viciously killed for stealing said tomato.

Nords are hardy people. Can't blame em being in a civil war and under assault of dragons. And suddenly someone's going around shouting dragon words pushing people around. KILL HIIIIM!

Sounds like you've never been to America. It's quite the opposite.

OT: I noticed this about the guards as well, and it kind of surprised me when I started fighting the guards. They're a lot tougher than I expected.

Lol...I've lived in America for 28 years and was born there...:)

I left it though. And the reason I made that comment was in reference to some youtube videos with the Occupy stuff.

Anyway, the kill on sight thing is a bit harsh, prison should always be an option (and a fine, if possible).

Sadly, this sounds very disappointing. If you hurt an NPC unintentionally, there should be a certain tolerance before they turn hostile and you should be able to apologize and make up for it with a healing spell/potion or a little money for the NPC to buy it him-/herself.

Nope, they usually attack me off the bat, i just sheathe my weapon or pull it out and sheathe. And they like lolk it's fine pay 40 gold.

Also it's not all the NPC's who are like that, Lydia one of your companions you can hit about 5 times, she will leave you then she wil rejoin if you ask her and you can keep hitting her.

That would be so awesome, it could be programmed. Quick. PM Vsions.

And who cares about the psycho guards bro. We're frigging DRAG ON BORN!! One destruction/conjuration/illusion/dragonshout fest later and those guards will be fighting on *my* side

Edit.

Sorry. Left this out. They'll be fighting on my side, or they'll be VERY dead.

The guards may have acted properly. These aren't modern day peace officers, equiped and trained to courteously-but-firmly (and non-lethally) control and restrain suspects. These are sword-wielding killers in the rugged, war-torn, brutal land of Skyrim. They are habituated to hacking threats into bloody messes, up close and personal.

i hit a guard with flames accidentally, they started attacking me.

I put down my weapons and they stopped, demanding fines and jailtime.

Interesting...

It didn't matter how many times I sheathed/drawn/sheathed again, they kept slashing and shooting til I was dead.
