2D graphics, really?

This is 2011 and you are using 2d graphics in very visible places, really Bethesda is this the best you can do?

Loads of games still use 2D graphics.

Consider for a moment how many times that texture is repeated through out a world the size of Skyrim...

And does this hamper your enjoyment of the game?

Lol that IS a little bit blatent, the side of the chain don't even match up right.

But to make that 3D would cost a HUGE amount of polygons for such an unimportant piece of background scenery, i understand why they did it

This texture reminded me of Twilight Princess.

That will not detract from my enjoyment of the game.

Look at Oblivion. The tree branches were pretty much 2D images that rotated, but did that stop me from enjoying that game? Nope.

You know someone doesn't play games for fun if he feels that this is such a major problem, he has to make a thread about it so maybe the devs will read.

I truly enjoy the gameplay but this should have been done better. Actually I'm kinda disappointed about Skyrims graphics overall, feels a bit too much like oblivion.

Absolutely - this doesn't affect me at all

I'd rather it was like this than run slowly (which it may - I have an old PS3!!!)

I don't mind any setbacks to graphics really. My main gripe is with gameplay elements being bad (for example only being able to favorite magic to my left hand so if I need a quick heal I must sacrifice my shield but not my mace) and bugs.

Hehe this is fun because I currently play the game on the lowest PC settings possible and the graphics are amazing.

Indeed this is a shame especially when you had all these chains in 3D in Oblivion.

I suppose this is because these chains here are part of a bigger 3D asset, and not considered as objects on their own...

Also, don't forget this is a console ports, and since the hardware doesn't evolve, you got to find ways to make it look more bling bling.

This means : more 2D elements where most people don't usually look, less clutter, and so on...

It's nothing major, but it is a consequence of consoles being the main platform for gaming. The positive aspect (in a way), is that it allows more people to play (and more importantly to BUY).

The game is still enjoyable, at least. Gameplay limitations because of the pads are more of a problem to me.

Can you imagine how slow the game would run, and how many more threads of complaints there would be, if they had rendered every every single item to the nth degree possible. The OP has to allow for such things and not get too bogged down in the detail, or lack of at some inconsequential point, and enjoy the feeling the game as a whole will bring.
The post reminds me of watching Thunderbirds as a child. Sure you can see the strings if you want to or you can instead just enjoy the programme.

Wait a minute... are you seriously telling me this is NOT a bug and will not be fixed?

That looks hideous..... I would expect WAY more from Bethesda...
