Copying a PS3's save file to another PS3.

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 4:09 pm

USB-Stick: Check.
Copy Skyrim save file onto USB-stick: Check.
Take USB-stick to new PS3: Check.
Copy the USB Skyrim file to new PS3: Check.
Insert Skyrim: Check.
Load save: A pop-up appears:

"This save belongs to another user. Unlocking throphies and saving is disabled."

Meh. My sis has been playing Skyrim for a solid 14 hours and have to restart with a new character because of this. In oblivion, there was no problem copying a save file and playing that save on another PS3, but this is ridiculous.

Thoughts?

Can't you log on to the same PSN account on the 2nd PS3 as was used on the 1st to prevent this? Seems to be a mechanic to prevent trophy cheating.

no PSN account was used. She has an offline user on both PS3's.

@Sykes: You mean that there's no problem starting from scratch after 14 hours of exploration and 2 hours of character creation before the face looks good? 'no problem' at all? She has other priorities than you it seems.

Have you tried changing the username to the same as the one on which the original save was made?

that's what we did, Rontti, used on both PS3's. It has at no point been anything else than Rontti.

i think your problem is there was never a online account to associate the save file with since it was being played on a offline profile so the save file is only associate with that particular ps3's offline account. I'm not sure if making a account would help now or not and i could just be wrong all together.

She strickly forbid me to make an nline account for her two years ago and have continued to say no whenever I pick up the matter later on, like a week ago. This could work though, so I'll try to convince her to try this.
