Help! Where can I safely store Items? : V

Once you have 5000 gold and do the first quest for the king in the second city (Whiteman) or something, I forget the name of it, lolol. they will offer you a home to buy.
before that, im not sure which containers may or may not be safe.

When you join Mages Guild they give you a room where is bed and shelves. Anybody know if that is safe place to store items?
