So now that its out...

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 12:02 pm

I preordered Skyrim for the PC, but i am seeing a lot of things that are making me think I should just get it on the xbox. It seems like the same thing happened with BF3, a PC game that gets shafted into a port. Now that many people have the game, should I get it for xbox instead, because its obvious that this game for designed around the xbox?

I know you guys are probably sick of seeing these threads but im stuck!

I'm playing it on Xbox and I'm nearly weeping with joy, imagine it on PC! PC is definitely the better choice if you can run it nicely.

If you want or plan to use mods (which is recommended especially if you intend to replay the game for years to come as they can make even MW look better than OB and new quests, guilds, mechanics make it feel somewhat fresh again), than take PC (there will most probably be UI mods as well... and UI seems to be the only real problem with PC version... which it stops being ifd you use XBOX controller).

If you don't care about mods than... well, dunno but I think PC is safer bet on long run... not to mention that if you find something you don't like and have a console, you are stuck with it while on PC you just get rid of it yourself or wait for a mod.

there are issues on both platforms of the game. just weigh up the pros and cons.

graphics... PC wins. + mods
controls.... well a lot of pc players are not happy with the controls whereas i don't think I have seen one complaint from an xbox player on controls.

PC

I bought this game for the PC with the full expectation that I would hate it to death until I modded the [censored] out of the game, just like Morrowind and Oblivion.

My only issue on the PC is that the UI is a bit awkward to navigate through with mouse and keyboard. That's all. And you can easily use a Xbox 360 controller on the PC version as well, which solves that problem.

PC, all the way, always.

A year from now, half this game will be made up of awesome mods and all the glitches will be gone.

Hmm i never really considered using a controller while playing on my computer (which will be able to run it great). Is there some kind of hardware i need to buy for that?

I got mine on PS3 so take this with a grain of salt, but if you want to play right now with few issues, Xbox. If you want more re playability down the road and are patient, PC.

I have to say that I've never tried it. But I think the only hardware you need is the controller itself. :P

Got mine on PC.

Whatever problems are apparent on the PC version will be fixed. Just give it time.

The Elder Scrolls Modding community is great like that.

I don't overall agree that the user interface is as bad as people are making it out to be. After a small learning curve and getting the keybindings set comfortably I'm fairly happy with it. Could be less generic looking though, if you know what I mean.

I won't be able to play the game until this evening. Quick question for those who have it on Xbox 360. Has the patch been released yet? If so, did it fix the low res textures when playing off the HDD?

I am very happy with my xbox version. Relaxing on the couch, big screen and a nice controller.

You can always use a 360 controller on the PC. You cannot mod or have improved graphics and draw distances on the console.

PC + mods will beat the consoles in time.

The issues people are having are minor and will be fixed later on with patches/mods. In the long run, PC wins.

Play on the platform/console of your choice. Nobody knows your personal opinions or your situation or preferences better than you.

These threads always brings out the platform/console elitist and causes fighting and bickering and insults to fly. Best not have these sorts of threads.
