A few questions about skyrim

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 5:47 am

i have played skyrim for around 2 hours now and i just have a few questions about the game.

is there any way to quickly switch between spells, weapons and potions on pc such as a hotkey for a potion or a key to change a 2 handed weapon to a healing spell and 1 handed weapon? or is there any way to do this on an xbox controler on the pc?

how long is the main story roughly and after i complete the story can i still do side missions?

depends on what you mean by "quickly." I'm playing the PC version but using the 360 controller, the quickest way I've found is just by adding the things you frequently use to favorites and then all the things you favorite can be listed via a button press. You still have to cycle through and choose though. I do agree a lot of the UI elements in this game are very cumbersome, I love the game but the UI could certainly use some fine tuning. At the very minimum there needs to be an option to quick swap between ranged and melee. I'm gearing my character to be an archer/dual wielder, for the targets I can't drop with a couple shots I'll finish off with melee and right now swapping to melee weapons is a bit clunky.

I suppose it's possible that there is a quick swap feature and I just haven't stumbled upon it but I would think that would be something they should tell you.

Go into your inventory (default: I) and favorite (default: F) the items you want... two-handed, one-handed, potion, spell, etc. Now exit out of inventory and go into your quick menu (default: Q). Hover over the items and press your number keys, you will see the number pop up beside the quick menu item.

Now you can quickly swap between items without going into a menu.

If you have the flame breath shout it really helps, otherwise you just gotta swing your weapon wildly until it dies.

Yep, that exactly what happened, soon you'll start to get attacked. You may want to load up a previous save before you get further in
