Mob Scaling

Hello all...I have a question about the scaling of mobs in Skyrim. I have been playing rpgs for a long time going back to might and magic VI. There were many reasons I loved that game...one of them being the possibility existed to stumble upon an area that was filled with mobs that were simply impossible to beat and I could look forward to coming back later to kick some ass. Or there you might learn of a randomly spawning chest in the desert that was filled with great treasure but was also protected by golden dragons. So you reach a level where you may have a chance to beat them (but chances are you would fail) and you give it a go. After several attempts you defeat the dragons and open the chest! Those were exciting times for rpgs. With Oblivion and the leveled scaling, I was very disappointed and ended up selling the game. Will Skyrim employ a system similar to Oblivion's or does the opportunity exist to have experiences like those mentioned with respect to MMVI? Thank you...

Will Skrim kill you if you go beyond your abilities? Yes.
Will it reward you if you do something dangerous and succeed? Yes.
Will you turn back on areas you struggled in early in the game, and dominate them later? Yes.

I randomly wamdered in a ruin swarmed by Draugr Wights when I was level five. I've hardly beaten them. Then there were two minibosses like Draugr Lords, they were tough and it took me quite a few restarts, but I was level 7 already, so I've beaten them. Then I encountered the boss of the dungeon, the dragon priest-like monster. I hardly harmed him, looted the boxes around, learned the dragon shout and escaped. No, Skyrim definitely doesn't have the Oblivion's level scaling problems

I wandered into a Falmer cave. They were tough but I could handle them. At the end of a cave was an entrance to a dwemer ruin where I got destroyed by a dwemer centurion in two hits. It's really great that not everything is scaled to your level.

Also had some problems with a dragonpriest which raised my dead comrade to turn her against me!

So far (I'm currently level 7 on the default difficulty) and I had to run away on several occasions.
There are some... things... in the wilderness, that are really scary. :whisper:

Seems like they put in some monsters by hand (not spawning randomly), that will obviously kick you around at low level but even some of the random encounters can be quite devious.

The combat is also lot rougher in Skyrim compared to Oblivion.
An average enemy can kill you in 2 - 5 strikes, so fighting multiple enemies is always dangerous.

You have to make use of your surroundings and think (some enemies are weak to fire etc...), rather than spamming the same attack/heal pattern over and over again until everything stops moving. So far it seems they really nailed it this time.

This!

I needed to reload many and many times to kill some Spriggans (And their Bears) at low-level..

Try take on a Ice troll at lvl 14.... Got 2 shot every....single....time.... I had to overdose on just about every potion, only just managed to kill it with a 7 second paralysing potion.

Lol, I encountered two of them on level 4 or so :celebration:
They pwned me almost in one hit, but they guarded a word wall, so I couldn't just leave. Luckily, I'm a Redguard, so I learned the shout and RAN!!! using my stamina restore great power. That was fun...
