Hybrid characters.

Hey everyone. I had a question for those of you who are further into the game or have a better general idea of the class mechanics. I would love to make a hybrid character but the problem is I can't decide exactly how much of a hybrid I can make my character without gimping myself. I would like to make my character a mix of stealth/bows/one handers and the bow. the ideal situation would be to play a hyper aggressive, low defense character. I would open up with a sneak attack with the bow and then use a one hander/spell combo to take out enemies when they get up close. is this too much going for one character? if i have to choose ill probably just play a battlemage but the perks in the bow tree look awesome. since you don't backpedal nearly as quickly as you did in oblivion it makes it pretty much impossible to kite people with the bow. Any ideas? Anyone else tried this?

i decided to reroll a caster/stealth hybrid seeing as how the melee combat isn't as interesting as it used to be. still looking for input!

I am in the same boat, i first started with a build based around casting primarily, but i opened up with Bows, and mixed melee/casting up close, but then at level 9 i started rethinking a lot of things and deleted, i haven't created my new character yet as my mind is boggling with builds...

I dont think you get hindered in any way whatever you choose to do, this is why i love Skyrim, i mean i threw all my stats and perks into three or four different things and it worked perfectly, but then i think i kind of got overwhelmed at the amount of ways i could engage enemys...

I am thinking on this new build i might just not touch melee whatsoever, and focus on Destruction, Resto and Bows..

I am coming up with my own class... Arcane Assassin. Basically a lot of ranged DPS with Bows to open up, then switch to kiting casting.

Let's just say that I just fought an Ice Troll at level 9 with my hybrid character and survived (moving back and forth, quaffing a few potions and mixing Flames in with Axe chops and Unrelenting Force, etc). One-handed 40 (Orc War Axe, Fine), Destruction 21 or so (Flames) and the "Fus" shout (on my way to High Hrothgar. Take it easy, and you'll live.

I find the game to be freakin awesome, but yeah you should always specialize. But the thing is, you shouldn't have trouble at all specializing in maybe just 2-3 skills. Don't worry about getting some skill-ups in random skills either, I got a lot of skill-ups I didn't want, I'm still here.

For the record, I'm a stealth illusionist who wields War Axes (1H). Using Flames was just something I did against the troll.

I think your spot on here, my previous character i had 4 or 5 skills i was building up, but i think i got overwhelmed, so 2 or 3 sounds spot on, i am basing my new class on an assassin caster, so im thinking, Destruction, Resto with the 50% extra healing power and the reduced mana use, and Bows.. Really need some feedback :/

this is the exact path i'm going for :D just made my new character. magic is just too badass to not focus on, especially after the borefest of oblivion spellcasting.

Exploit your own strength and make your weaknesses redundant. Destro-Resto-Bow sounds like a good solid build, conventional but it works. AND it should be easy to isolate the skill-ups to these, since you get Healing and Flames from the get-go.

Armor is meaningless to you (and me), because of the focus on range and quick in-and-outs. So no skill-ups or perks in those areas, just be extra sure you stay out of melee range lol. Besides, you got Unrelenting Force to push back and stagger opponents. Be sure to use your shouts to the max. Bows are a great alternative for when you run out of mana, and you don't really need more than Overdraw 5 in Archery.
