If you're getting slaughtered on Adept, it might be that you were just not ready for that specific area.

No shame in that.

Enjoy it for the story. Games are made to be enjoyed the way you want to.

yeah I'm getting my butt kicked as well but I don't think I'll lower the difficulty. I like the challenge.

Just means you need to level up more...

Oh wait...don't the enemies then level up with you?

Nothing wrong with that, you don't need to justify yourself. Play at whatever difficulty you have the most fun with

That's why they include lower diffuculties

Glad they have made the medium levels harder though.

I've been annihilated by enemies everywhere on 50% difficulty, love it!

Just passed a dungeon some of you might know from a previous TES game (;)) and got my ass handed to me by a frost troll. Again the frost trolls damnit. I've slain 3 roaming dragons now and yet I need to outrun trolls as I don't stand a chance.

Yeah dragons are actually pretty easy compared to those damn trolls (and giants lol).

I'm thinking about knocking mine down from Adept too. On the one hand, the thrill of combat is definitely there, but on the other it tends to interfere with my love of exploring. I was a bit surprised at the level of resistance in my first quest!

Oh I'm a horrible player. Always have been. If it wasn't for difficulty levels in today's games I'd be in trouble.

No need to be embarrassed. I always put the difficulty down some because I enjoy questing more than combat and really don't like the long epic battles. So I move it down. Once in a while I like to turn it up just to prove to myself I can do it and I'm not a lost cause but basically I just enjoy TES games more on a lower difficulty setting.

...someone almost got eaten by a mudcrab the other day. By contrast your almost-defeat seems epic ;)

It was difficult for me too until I got used to it and advanced a little, I don't remember Oblivion being this hard in the beginning... This is more similar to Fallout, I got my butt kicked so hard there I got discouraged and uninstalled the game. :cryvaultboy: Don't want to lower difficulty because it hurts my pride. :D

thanks everyone  i must admit to liking the harder enemies (as much as i love oblivion,it was getting tiresome when they almost all levelled up with you).it's great to have a wide variety of different difficulty enemies that you can come across at any time.i do vow though, once i have a better grasp of the game,to raise the difficulty back up again,as i did enjoy being able to overcome a difficult opponent e.g
Spoiler
like the bandit chief that was guarding a bridge,i was level 2-3 and after numerous attempts,i finally did best him.he was a valiant opponent though!
sorry to repeat myself again, but this game is fantastic  may the blessings of the nine guide your way through your journeys in this wonderful world of skyrim
