Leveling too quickly?

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 10:10 am

I have the game set to Expert level.

I noticed that I'm leveling obscenely fast. I read a skill book for lockpicking and went from nothing to 50% full for the next level. On the next skill gain, I made a level (that means TWO skill gains).

Then I turned around and did it again -- I haven't even left the first 'dungeon' early in the game (where you go to retrieve a [item] for [a guy] from some [bad guys] in a [crypt]). I haven't even figured out how I want to even play the character, yet I'm burning through levels. :/ It makes me feel like I made some horrible mistake by not knowing exactly what I was going to do before I even started the tutorial.

Leveling is a lot faster now that every skill you increase counts towards your level. Skill trainers will level you crazy fast too.

I expected that, but is it normal to only get two skill gains PER level?

Still hoping to get some consensus on this.

Early on, I think so. Leveled from 2-3 with a Destruction and One-Handed skill-up. It has to slow down massively soon though :).

I noticed that leveling is definitely fast in the early going. Just by leveling One-handed and Block basically I went from level 1 to 5 in the very first optional "dungeon" you come across. The dungeon itself was great and well designed, but I do feel I am leveling too quickly. I hope it slows down a bit and we get to savor each level more. But I guess if that's how the game is designed we have to live with it. Hopefully you can still get over 100 hours in a playthrough without reaching cap, similar to how Morrowind was. We will see I guess.

I hope it slows down, I make two swings, two block, sneak a little and new level is already here!

You won't keep levelling up that quickly forever, things will slow down

The hard level cap is 75? I thought it was 50. Well, that certainly explains the fast leveling. I am not worried about it at all now, knowing the cap is 75. It's definitely a nice pace for a cap of 75. Good to know.

On the issue of not knowing what character you want to make, just save all of your perk points and only bust up your health, fatigue, and magika (depending on if you're a warrior, mage, theif, etc.)
