Playing as pure Archer

Post » Wed May 09, 2012 3:01 pm

Earlier today I had only like 30 min to try the game and now I am tired to continue playing. Had a long day.. I will play tomorrow as I have free day! :)
Anyway before I go to bed I have one question,

I tried the bow and I really liked playing with it, do you think it will be Ok to use it as a main weapon for most of the time? I hope I will be able to find stalks of arrows with me, and I hope the bow will do optimal dmg so I dont feel crippled playing this way..
Any tip or your opinion about playing archer - please by all means share it with me.

good night people

Playing an archer is fun, just invest in stealth and definitely have a fall-back weapon. Bows are only good to open an attack with and hit the enemy until they get close. You can't back-pedal and keep shooting like you could in Oblivion.

I'm playing a ranger (archery sneak restoration light armor), and use the bow 99% of the time. Never came close to running out of arrows (some shopkeepers have a huge stock), so don't worry about that. Sneak attack with the bow is an instant kill more often than not, and I'm still only at 2x sneak damage. It's great fun.

No, but you can sprint away, quickly turn around and shoot.

As a main point, I'm focusing on lvl'ing my archery skills. It seems that the skill tree and bonuses aval. for the bow can be upgraded to a point where it might actually be an acceptable alternative to an axe or sword. I love using it too. I just wish I could move faster with an arrow drawn, but oh well. Anyway, I say go for it....I just might do the same thing. I'm lvl 11 now but I've gotten my archery skills to about 35 so far and 40% more dam w/the bow as a skill tree point.
