Does weapon choice matter for dual wield?

Daggers, swords, maces, and war-axes are all 1h. So does it matter what combo you use - particualrly if you want to play an assassin style? I've been playing with daggers for flavour but their dam is low and I don't see speed on these weaps so why wouldn't I just go for the highest deeps I can on any 1h I find? Do weapon types even matter, like blunt against skeletons? Can you backstab with any 1h weap? Does offhand matter? I have to say I'm a little frustrated with just how much gamesas has dumbed down this game for broader audience appeal.

Take a look at the 1H perk constellation, that should give you some idea of the differences. Maces can partially ignore armor, axes can cause bleeding, swords can have critical hits. I'm not sure if there's any real difference between them before you take the perks though.

the game literally just came out. give us some time to figure things out...

half the fun of an elder scrolls game is actually figuring this kind of stuff out on ur own...

to your other point, yes, the game is SEVERELY dumbed down to the point where its almost sad. oblivion felt like a pc game ported to consoles. this feels like a console game ported to the pc. its a completely different style and quite polarizing.
