How to get tons of Iron Ingots for free, or how to make enough money to get alot of them?

If you are on PC, you can cheat it a bit (if you need Iron ingots now! for your armors). What ya do is select the vendor, and mouse over an item. Then take the mouse and move it towards his name on the left, and then move it down to your name. It should now show the item in question, while you are 'over the line' and into your inventory. Then just push [enter] a bunch of times, and it's like the item is yours, and you are selling it to the vendor. It's a good way to get the materials out of the vendor when in dire need, if you aren't into spending hours gathering materials yourself.

Wow bethesda. Why couldn't they just have made a real PC interface...

Good to know that. Way to complicated though. If you want to cheat, just use the console already.

I love being on consoles! That way I won't cheat. TES and FO games are easy as it is. I don't need cheats aswell!

OT: I'm sure you can find some if you just look around a bit.

there is bandit camp North and little west from Whiterun near the mountain Edge, plenty of Iron Ore there.

There are several mines all over the map where you're able to look for bigger piles of ore. Also try to find forges in the wildernes (or in camps). They may contain stacks of ingots too. Also try to befriend local smiths, as they might allow you to simply take stuff in their shops (e.g. iron ingots).
