Fix for PC UI problems

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 3:15 am

1. Buy a big screen TV
2. Buy an Xbox controller
3. Hook Controller up to PC
4. Sit on couch and enjoy the greatest art masterpiece of our time

Seriously this is what I did and this game is amazing. I think it has surpassed just being a video game and could most definitely be considered an art masterpiece. I've played over 10 hours so far and have been to just ONE hold. And I'm not one of those people that picks flowers for hours. I've been doing all the quests around Whiterun.

Oh, so the fix is to imitate consoles instead of playing it like I want, on the desk with keyboard and mouse, because its the pc version?

I'm used to the PC controls though I do have that controller and might try it some time. Keep in mind some people are bugged and can't use the mouse in menus. (You CAN use the mouse in the menus, and it works fine for many players, it's just borked for some.)

I'm not a fan of the hotkey system, and the Xbox 360 controller won't fix that. I'll get used to it, but it's unintuitive. They should have let you save named sets of equipment in addition to the cumbersome favorites.

u dont need a big screen tv. u just need a wide screen monitor.

and a wired 360 controller is like $25 and works for many games. i highly recommend buying 1 for all pc gamers.

Who misses the days when games were ported over FROM the PC instead of TO it. Damn you massive amount of console players ruining my video games! lol.

Yes you can play it on a desk with mouse and keyboard but you have to accept that the UI is designed with a pad in mind. Im just sick of seeing complaints about it. PC gaming is moving towards gamepads in all but FPS and RTS games. So I think we need to get used to it.

No, its not. PC = keyboard and mouse, every pc gamer will tell you that. Just because devs get lazy and dont bother to design the controls for pc that doesnt mean pc gaming is moving towards gamepads.

I think the problem here is, has the game been optimized for a game-pad or keyboard. It would be nice to know before you start playing what the developer would think is the best way to get the most out of the game. Of course each player will have their own preference but for those who are not locked in to either one , it would be nice to know the best way to start playing.

I have a setup that allows me to play on my 40" LED, using keyboard and mouse.
I must say that there's no comparison with your regular TN monitor, it looks so much better on a good painel.

I also have a wireless 360 controller and the receiver, but I have it for sports/racing games.
I'll never play a FP game with a controller.

And there's mods coming I'm sure, so this UI problem it's just temporary.

Or Bethesda's tech guys could do what they're paid to do, and FIX THE DAMN THING themselves.

...

...

Yeah, I guess the OP's idea is better, considering the above isn't likely to happen. <_<

Any game that requires precision will be better played with a keyboard and mouse.

Why would I want to use a controller. With a controller you get about 4 buttons and a trigger. With mouse and keyboard you get about 70 keys you could set to various actions and at least 2 buttons and a scrollbar on the mouse. A much more versitile interface if they only took advantage of it.

I may want to play the the game with a Grand Piano but unless the the Developers have designed the game for this to be the best way to play the game, I might have to look at other options to get the best out of the game. The Keyboard is always better for aiming I find and if you have lots of slots for quick menus. Don't be afraid to try something different you might enjoy it. :D
