Determining mobdungeon level ranges

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 2:05 am

I did a search, but didn't come up with anything.

I know level scaling is different now in that the dungeons and mobs actually, supposedly have levels. How can you determine what the level of a mob you are fighting is or what level range a dungeon is?

Am I missing something that's right in my face? Would be nice to know what you are getting into rather than just relying on "well he beat me, so I guess I should level up". Or to see a dungeon on the map and know what general power level it is designed around.

I'm probably missing something very apparent.

Here's mine. When approaching the word wall I quicksave. If the dragon priest that spawns kills me in spite of me having both Barbas and a regular follower along, I reload and try again. If it happens repeatedly, it's too high for me and I leave it alone for now.

From what I recall the dungeons lock to whatever level you are when you enter them and will stay locked at that level. So if I enter a dungeon at level 5, then come back at level 10, the mobs are still level 5

Yes, I heard that as well. One dungeon might be level 8-15 then locks at 8 if you go in at 8. Another might be 18-22 and locks at the closest level.

I would just like to know what the range is for my own info so I know what i'm getting into before hand. Not sure why the dungeon ranges or mob level indicator would need to be secretive.

There's never been a "mob level indicator" in any ES game. Granted, Oblivion made it easy: everything was the same level as you. Personally I prefer the trial and error discovery method.

I understand that as well. But seeing as how they now employed ranges for dungeons, it seems like those ranges would be indicated somewhere.

I don't mind it that much, was just curious is all.
