I've always seen them as slightly pointless, perhaps except, if you are particularly low on magicka, and you need to use one in desperation.

They're basically an alternative to spells. It doesnt use magicka (mana) and don't require you to learn the spell. Just click on it and your character will wield it and you can use it once. Btw, how are you finding the game?

Scrolls are items that allow you to cast 1 spell ONLY once, for example Scroll of Fireball.

When you equip a scroll you do so like you would any other spell, and you cast the spell once for every scroll that you have.

Its that simple really.

They're just magic spells you can use once. Lets say they're like a pizza slice. You eat it and then theres nothing left. But lets say magic spells are a infinite buffet of pizza. You can eat as much as you want until you're full.

Its nothing like that, but if it helps ^.^

Arguably though, Bethesda did not develop New Vegas.

I always feel the need to defend them in this situation.

I just save them to use in certain situations. Like the scroll that increases your companions battle performance (forget the name). I used it in the first dragon fight with good results.
