How Should I Build My Character?

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 6:26 am

I started off in Skyrim as an imperial and i picked up a 2h weapon and havn't put it down since. I still want to use magic though, but i also love having heavy armor and a good weapon. I don't really want destruction magic just the other types, they will be more of a use to me.
How should i make this character?

It is all up to you.

You said you lose 2h so I'd go with that.

If you want magic but don't want to use destruction you could try...

Resoration to heal yourself
Alteration and use shielding magic instead of heavy armor so that you can still take good damage but you're faster.

Illusion works fine too but I always picture that more for a sneaky type character. Really you can get whatever skills you want and just play the character you like...

Depends on what kind of magic you want.

I used a heavy armor / 2 handed warrior in Oblivion.

My magic schools were Conjuration, Mysticism, Alteration, and Destruction.

You said you don't want Destruction, I'd recommend Restoration perhaps. And obviously Mysticism isn't in the game anymore, most of it's spells were shifted to Alteration (except Soul Trap, which is in Conjuration). It all depends on what kind of mage you want to be.

I too am trying to decide on my build. I know that I want 1-handed for dual wielding, I know that I want Conjuration and Enchanting. The rest is up in the air. I want to play as a tank, so I'd like to have Heavy Armor, but I feel with my playstyle, Light Armor would suit me better since I'm using a lot of Stamina for Dual Wield attacks.

So I'm having a hard time deciding just how to play myself.

I would go for conjuration, go to The College of Winterhold after getting your magika to 140/140 so you can learn more :)

That is currently what I am doing so I can be a 1 hand sword 1 hand conjuration, this allows me to switch back to shield or get time to use a potion.

Play like you want to play mate, just imagine what you want and go with that vision,
Don't number crunch or try to go for the all time best build, do it like YOU want, and you'll have a much better experience!
