After about six hours of trying to connect to Steam via my mobile hotspot (my only internet connection atm) I′m a little bit pissed. What a braindead idea to secure a pure offline game with a online service that doesn′t work with standard ports. So if anyone asks me or seems to be interested I′ll inform him that Skyrim is really a waste of time. Did I mention that I′m a bit angry? ^^

Don't get your panties in a wad, its not the games fault. It's just the internet, silly goose!

It's right there: Requires Internet Connection and Free Steam Account to Play. It's on the back of the box.

It's not like Bethesda tricked you or anything.

I wouldn't hate a house because the front gate is ugly.

Reason I don't buy PC games anymore, was a diehard PC Gamer for 15 years, no more, thanks to this rubbish idea. Consoles have won the platform battle in my opinion.

A games worth = the service its used on.

If you bought it from game in store and it didn't work would you still come here? Well probably.

No they didn't lie. But requiring Steam to play was a bad move from them to begin with. I don't play on PC often, but I seriously don't understand why most PC players seem fine with giving up a degree of their freedom.

Perhaps not. But if I were you, I'd buy the house and rip the gate out the very day the papers are signed.

I have to say that I agree with all the anti-Steam sentiments. I too absolutely detest it (and any other superflous and annoying software that runs in addition to a game's executable, (ie Games for Windows Live). I was greatly saddened when Bethesda started to wrap their wonderful games around this horrendous junk.

But please, don't let Valve's garbage put you off Bethesda's great game, because it truly is a magnificent experience.

If you bought a house and the gate wouldn't open at all? I'm the kind of guy who likes to have access to the things I purchase.

You knew it needs the internet to validate on the first install, yet you don't have the internet. That's not Bethesda's fault.

No offense, but this isn't 1999. Broadband connections are not rare anymore, and not having the necessary means to connect to the internet at a decent speed is fundamentally no different than not having enough RAM to play the game: you don't meet the system requirements. It svcks, and it's frustrating, but it is not Skyrim's fault.

Thank you. People just don't see that broadband internet is the future- it's like complaining your out of date phone doesn't get good service but an android does. It svcks for those who have not yet become the average internet household, but your lack of something doesn't mean everyone else should stop moving progressively forward. Having Steam for the game is great- I've been playing in online mode and I can chat with all my friends WHILE playing the game- for those who wanted co-op, this is a fantastic feature to allow you to update your friends in realtime and still enjoy the single player experience.
