The coolest gaming moment I've ever had...

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 8:48 am

I played a bit yesterday to get a feel for it, and now I've made a new character. So I am just at the beginning. I decide to ignore everything just watched the Dragon fly around. To my AMAZEMENT, it LANDED right in front of me and started TALKING TO ME.

Then it BLEW ME AWAY in a blast of fire! My character went flying [censored] over teacup into a fence! I got a pic of the dragon right before it blew me to smithereens:

Of course, my character got right back up again, but DAMN. That was so cool!

The dragon's voice and language is Epically awesome.

I hope this is not a spoiler...

So yeah, DON'T RUSH through the tutorial!! Enjoy the only time dragons won't kill you in one breath - or they will, but you just get up again.

Yeah when the dragon talks it is SO COOL:

Spoiler
You can't understand a word, it is in some awesome language.

And I tried sneaking up on him and he did not notice me but when he did, he turned and kept looking right at me and talking!!

Yes, I love the intro. One of the best intros for a game I've ever seen. Also if you think that was close...

Spoiler
I got up right next to his eye when he tore open the tower and lit it on fire. It was terrifying that I stood frozen for a few seconds after he flew off. It's like... he was sparing me for something... Perhaps he knew I was dragonborne...

Have fun playing the rest of the game.

I agree, this tutorial is the best I've ever seen.

And the moment you mentioned Levantine, is epic.

Also, I found out another cool thing! The tutorial has choices! And I found a lot more loot the second time around.

Spoiler
You can choose to go with the Imperial soldier or the revolutionary and there is a different beginning in the keep depending on which way you choose. And when you hit the first town there is a different outcome.

Agreed! The tutorial is fantastic, well-paced, fun, and conveniently hides the fact that you're learning to play by wrapping it up in such an exciting way. I had plenty of moments like that one in your pic, OP, where I had a dragon in my face and needed a change of clothes because of it!

What I love about the dragons is how they all seem to have a personality--they're not simply world bosses for you to grind to, they're fleshed-out characters and exciting events.

Bethesda definitely outdid themselves with Skyrim's intro. I definitely won't mind going through it again and again as I make my inevitable 6+ alternate characters.

Agreed. I've only run into 4 dragons so far but each was actually quite different.

At me all the dragons were the same, and a bit too easy at medium difficulty, i was kinda bummed when i was at a mountain top, easly killed a dragon only to be whiped by the dragon priest named krosis who was guarding a word wall which wass a huge challenge

Thanks, Pseron!

The coolest part from a storytelling perspective is that my character was not afraid. She was fascinated...as if she truly was dragonborn. The dragon killed several townspeople right in front of her, and she just stood in awe, as if she had finally come home. Man, I will remember that moment as long as I live.

Bethesda. Seriously. Well-done.
