Quick Travel: yes or no

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 5:22 am

I personally don't. I either walk/run or ride a horse everywhere. I haven't quick travelled once. I don't think I form part of the Mcdonald's drive-thru culture, I like to look at everything and get totally immersed in the game world. I even find myself walking through towns, especially upon first arrival to "take it all in".

This game is truly epic, thanks. Finally a proper game.

That's cool??

Fast travel doesn't break immersion for me, since it just simulates travel as if you had walked/rode there yourself. Thus why its not the exact same time as you left when you fast travel to somewhere across the map...

Depends I quick travel to sell stuff and go back to exploring. Sometimes I just wanna get to a quest and not spend twenty minutes getting there.

Nah. Fast travel, by yourself is ridiculous. It's just a huge cop-out. It's you, walking on your own, across half the map, but not having to deal any of the creatures in the way, the only thing changing is the rising and setting of the sun.

Teleportation, boats, silt striders and personal way marks - Morrowind had all these things. It's the better way, I think. Fast travel is a terrible mechanic, and I wish I had never been introduced.

It was tried in a live stream of Skyrim. Riften to Markarth is about 1 hour and 20 minutes real time to walk it LOL.

If it's a quick 'go there and come back mission' like - just to pick something up for someone, then i fast travel.

If I'm on one side of the map and I'm low on goods then I will. Only if I have too.

It depends, sometimes when you already explored the surroundings but still have quests to do, it get tedious sometimes.
Also I tend to want to explore everything on screen, so it's easy to focus on the quest fast traveling.

But most of the time I don't.

Did it in Oblivion, but havent done it once yet in Skyrim and at this moment in time, not planning to. Everything is just so new and looks so good, I just want to see every inch of it.

This. Exactly. Sometimes I just want to get back to my house, deposit the loot I'm keeping and sell the rest and then jump back to where ever I was adventuring at. If I'm walking (which I love to do) I want to be able to pick up stuff in all the neat little areas and dungeons I find, not fight my inventory weight.

I tend to skip it when traveling. Just cleared Dustman's Cairn and I did fast travel back and forth 6 times to grab and sell all the loot left in the dungeon.

When walking around becomes tedious, I use FT. And it does become tedious at times.
