You shouldn't but I would pick them up just in-case. Or you could save it before you try it and let us know :)

I doubt that would happen. In Oblivion and Fallout 3 I had no issues with storage like that.

No, you won't. I had a lot of stuff stored in the upstairs chest of my house, then bought all the upgrades. The chest moved to an entirely different room in the house, but all my stuff was still inside it.

Usually it doesn't "replace" the storage containers, just addds furnishings onto areas of the house. :) You could always save before you try it though, just in case.
