Loving the game.. As a PC Player, the interface couldve been better, but you get used to it and I have use of full mouse, so

First post here, so hello everyone.. Hope your all enjoying Skyrim. I havent Started questing yet just dummy running the first few miles to get to know the game and setup 1st, then its serious playing.. but 2questions:

My Keybindings are: W,Q,E,S move, TAB-Activate, D - Inventory A- Shout, R Unsheathe, SPACE - Jump... + the rest

1) Im at the 1st wood mill with Hert or Hart..but when I start any conversations, I cant get out of them, unless i mouse click the "Exit" button in bottom right corner, but that doesnt always work either, cant find the key that will do it... in Oblivion, I could just TAB out anywhere in a convo.
2) How do I use 1 - 8 hotkeys.. Ive read the Manual, but cant get them to work..

Im using a MS Sindwinder X4 KeyBoard, and a 5 button Mouse.

Any advice would be great.

Key bindings aren't working correctly at the moment from what I hear. Only work around is to use default controls.

EDIT: For hotkeys, make an item a favorite, (F) then go into your Favorites menu (Q), and then hover over the item and press the number you want for the hotkey.
