Bladesman perk and Daggers

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 9:10 am

Now that some have the game, has anyone figures out if the Bladesman perk in the One hand perk tree apply to daggers?

Thanks

http://elderscrolls.wikia.com/wiki/Perks

Says ;
Bladesman: (3) Attacks with swords have a 10% chance of doing critical damage (+5% per additional rank)

It's a bit unclear on it's own but when you look at the first perk in that constilation;
Armsman: (5) One-Handed weapons do 20% more damage (+20% per additional rank)

It would seem that daggers are not included in Bladesman but that's just my opinion based on the wording and obviously they will be included in the Armsman perk which you can take 5 ranks in so that's something. That combined with the possible 15x back-stab multiplier means some serious damage (especially with added poison) if that's your play-style.

Thought about it some more and disregard what I said about the fact that one says swords and the other one-handed.

The base perk says one-handed and from there it has 5 branches. 3 of which relate to individual types of one-handed weapons, axes, maces and blades.

Of course they would have to clarify by saying blades on the second tier or the other two specific options would be mute.

I hope daggers are included in bladesman it's just strange to think of a dagger as a 'sword'

Maybe someone with a twitter account should ask Pete if he knows for sure?

Yah, it's pretty vague.

Hm, if it says swords specifically, then I'd say "no" but.....it would need testing, frankly.

I'd really like to know this too. I plan on using Daggers and i'd hate to go with this perk if it's useless with them.

So any news on this? Do daggers get something from that tree?

i just tested it a bit and did not get any critical hits against 3 mobs with 10% chance(1 rank in Bladesman).

I have a similar question, has anyone tested if Savage Strike(25% bonus damage to power attacks and random decapitations) works with the dagger dual wield double power attack(where you hold down both mouse buttons)?

It specifically states swords. Daggers are not swords. Dont see any room for vagueness
