Find myself not using fast travel

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 3:39 am

I fast travelled in oblivion all the time, and I believe the reason for that is because the world did look all the same, and it wasn't really worth seeing all over again, so once I found a place I would just zip line strait for it via fast travel. Here, I think I know exactly why I'm not using it and that's because the world is just so detailed and beautiful. You dunno what your gonna find, so many random events could happen like finding a guy whos been eaten to death by pit wolves and then finding a note on his body with orders to return these wolves to the arena. Or a member of the dark brotherhood who has a contract to kill you. Or maybe even finding a broken down horse and carriage with some sort of crazy circus clown who is supposedly carrying his dead wife?

And these are just a scratch on what is a very deep and very large service, and it just rewards exploring! I don't think it would of worked quite as well if the gameplay and systems didn't work together so well but they do and it's just amazing.

So do your self a Favor and avoid fast travelling, you really will be rewarded for it! (plus it's just fun to explore!!)

I wish there was more variety in the terrain (it was green forest in oblivion, now it's snowy mountainside or barren plains in Skyrim), but other than that yeah I agree, the environment is funner to navigate definitely.

I just wonder what greenery and such would look like in skyrim :) That and I miss the clear fuzzy sunsets from oblivion.

I think some hardcoe Morrowind fans are going to have an impossibly difficult time trying to rationalize Morrowind being better than Skyrim. This game is soooo much better than Morrowind.

I find that I want to walk through Skyrim but because of limited playtime, I have been fast traveling some. I still do a lot of walking and sightseeing just for the fun of it.

Too early to say, but my instinct is to cry challenge accepted. Not to detract from Skyrim at all, but it will exceed my expectations if its questlines or replayability are better than Morrowind. Yes, Morrowind was as buggy as a lice-ridden dog and its graphics are prehistoric now, but it's going to take more than some pretty snow effects to unseat my favourite game ever. Put it this way: I really hope it does.

Im impatient and hate backtracking over already covered ground so I fast travel. I greatly enjoy walking around, but doing so over again is no bueno for me.

I only fast travel when a quest line requires me to jump around from place to place.

Especially when the quests keep sending you back and forth across the map.

I never fast travel, part of the game is the excitment of finding a new dungeon.
