Respawning in Skyrim

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 2:42 pm

Hey guys, love the game.

Can anyone clarify the respawning for this game? Will outside enemies respawn at camps, and will dungeons respawn?

I hate to bump my own thread but it's already closing on the 3rd page and I think my question can be answered fairly fast. Again, sorry mods.

I bump it for you, because i have the same question: does somebody know how long the respawn-timers are?

I'm actually interested in this myself. They might have cut out some respawns because they didn't want people like me to do a little dungeon "grinding" to help us level up unnaturally (Even though it would still be natural, we'd just be fighting the same things a few times)

It will respawn. I have discovered, that there are at least 2 different respawning globals. One for the cleared dungeons, one for the others. Its set to something like 720hours though (if i recall correctly).

Speaking of it, i might try to change it with FNVEdit :D

I already tried it with 3 1/2 days and 8 days and the enemys didn't despawn/respawn, but i also didn't tried it in a room that is not tagged for respawning (like the player house in FO3), because i didn't have enough money to buy one, and i really don't want to begin cheating one for me.

So maybe someone can tell if there is a respawning timer, and if yes, how long does it need.

720 hours for the dungeons or the world? Maybe they messed up something with the globals (720 instead of 72), but if they really meaned it to be on a 720 respawn timer, we can only hope for an quick release of the creation kid.

Oh yes, and please tell us, if FNVedit worked (i really hope that there will be a SKYedit)

Personally, that sounds reasonable from a realistic standpoint. It makes sense that it would take 30 days rather than 3 for most of the areas to gain new inhabitants. The places with animal inhabitants less so than the places with human ones obviously.

I don't want -that- facet of realism. I want to level up easier :/

Good, im lurking on these forums all day long just to find something valuable on this topic :D

Please, let us know if it can be edited with, i may try out myself as well (i know a thing here and there with FNVEdit :D)

EDIT: oh, and yea, 30 days might be more reasonable. It was real pain in the rear to loot all of those Enclave Soldiers before they reset again, in Fallout 3.

My best guess for the respawning in skyrm would be that it goes on real time and not game time due to people wanting to power level.

I know, and I know that it was clearly a mistake when they were setting the timers. Thirty day respawn timers are ridiculous, no matter how realistic they are and no game developer would set them that way deliberately.

I would compromise with like, an in-game week. 7 days. But 30, paaahh.
At least they succeeded. I'm not going to camp outside a dungeon and "wait" for 740 hours.

I dont see powerlevel that important... its not like it is MMORPG or something.

I think the time-span is rather cleverly done.

With 150 dungeons, you should have a good turnaround in dungeon respawns, meaning you'll always have a few with available enemies to squash. Unless you manage to clear ALL 150 in a thirty day timespan, the time should be no issue.

Dungeons are really not an issue. But outside the respawn-timer is far too long; it's not nice, if you walk around, and the dead enemy from level one is still lying there and there are no enemys all around, because you know that nothing has respawned.

Now that the game has been out a couple days, does anyone know how respawn works yet? i don't care if some people don't see any point in going back to dungeons they have cleared. I have always gone back since Morrowind & Oblivion and would do so in Skyrim. Once i complete most of the quests this is when i start to role play my character having dungeons not respawn will kill this for me. (Until a mod fixes that of course)

If it really is 30 game days, that does feel a bit too long to me. I wouldn't want it to be every 3 days tho...games of this scope/size, that becomes too aggravating for many. Maybe 16 days might be good.

But if it really bugs you that much, can't you just hit the wait/rest button a lot of times, or something? AFIK, it's not a timed race, this game. Spend or ignore spare time as you see fit.
