Another Massive Marriage Bug and Complaint

First the Bug:

If you choose to marry your sidekick, they take all the equipment they are holding and quit your team forever. This to me seems like a half-assed implementation of this mechanic that would have probably been better left out of the game. At the very least, give me all that equipment back. So pro tip: Don't marry your sidekick.

Now the Complaint:

I've had Janessa as my sidekick since basically the beginning of the game. We've fought and stole and shared the same life for basically my character's entire life in Skyrim. She's a sass talking, dual-wielding meat grinder that doesn't take no for an answer. In my mind, it makes sense that one would marry the person that they have spent time with and shared experiences. And yet, the second she gets married, she wants nothing more than to be a meek housewife and make me sandwiches? What the [censored] Bethesda? Seriously? If I had known the fine print on that one, I'd have not done it in the first place. It's basically saying that you shouldn't marry someone you actually like, because they are just going to disappear the second the ceremony is over (but that is another glitch altogether). Go marry some random stranger you met once so they can make you sandwiches.

I want to hope that this can be changed in some future patch to allow your spouse to stay on your team. It just seems silly and it completely broke any sort of immersion this mechanic was suppose to implement.
