So I picked up a follower early in the game and made him my equipment mule. I visited the first major city in the plotline and happened to do one of the quests for the Companions. During the quest, my follower was replaced by a temporary quest-specific one.

Now that I've finished the quest, I can't seem to find my original follower. I checked everywhere but dont see him. I even went back to the original town where I found him. Anyone have any ideas where he might be?

Does getting another follower automatically delete your old one? Or do I have to officially them tell that its time to part ways before I take on another follower?
