with all the hype that has been..

...put on the table by bethesda ever since skyrim was announced until now, is most of it that was expected true? i have yet to still getting my copy because my local game store delayed my pre order and said id have to wait an extra week for a new set of stock and i have been reading a few positive and negative threads about the game, though i know it is expected to have bugs straight after release. I also ran into negative threads about how disppointed some people were about the game, mainly the PC players about the UI, etc. Still im very hyped even though ive read bad comments by people, because in videos the game looks amazing

Was all this hype all a bunch of crap, most of it true or most of it false?

The game is great its a masterpiece and 5 years from now it will be talked about as such. With any game ever released you see the negative reviews from the select few right away. The millions of others are to busy playing to be concerned with the forums. Im not saying theres something wrong with being dissapointed and stating such, just that thats why you see so much negative in forums the first day or so.

so in other words all the complainers are just a bunch of 10 year old trolls looking for attention and that the hype is nothing else but the truth?

Masterpiece. May The Elder Scrolls franchise never die so the children of my children could play masterpieces like this.

IMO it's better than Oblivion. A lot of the negativity seems to be coming from gaming snobs who, quite frankly, are nitpicking. This is easily the best crafted RPG I've played since Oblivion (and yes, I thought it was better than Mass Effect and Dragon Age).

As far as the bugs go, I've come across a couple of split-second graphical anomalies but nothing more serious than that. Others haven't been so fortunate, so if I were you I would expect a few so you won't be upset. PC gamers will always complain when a game is primarily designed for console, so I wouldn't take much notice of that if you're a console gamer.

I've lost 18 hours to it so far, and will lose many, many more!

Well, the game is definately not perfect, but that doesn't keep it from being brilliant. The landscape and aesthetics are just breathtaking, and the enemy hideouts are absolutely brilliant. For example in oblivion you usually had 2-3 enemies guarding the door of a location, and the rest would be inside. Now it's very common to find bandit fortifications with 6-8 enemies guarding it (archers on the walls and all that), and sometimes even towns. This game just has 10 times more character than oblivion.

I love it, but the specific question I assume is up to the beholder. Radiant Story works as told before, nothing more. There's significant improvements over Oblivion, and even if you don't think the combat has upped itself, the animations make everything feel a lot more powerful. No dynamic snow though.

yeah well i said that i expected bugs from day one so thats no problem as long as they end up fixing all and if not all, most of them eventually.
i also have a question, youve played 18 hours already so hae you encountered any dragons since you played? not including the main quest, or any quests in that matter.
and if so, how often have you seen them?

I did not have any "hype" for it, but it came out better then what I expected, so did it live up to the hype?
Yes, I guess it did.

Great game but alot of bugs. Graphical bugs up to gamebreaking bugs (can't advance main story for example or critical NPCs disappearing)

They're quite rare in my case. I'm level 11 and I fought only 2 (1 of them quest-related). I've seen 4 in total though. The other 2 I managed to sneak by. It's amazing, I could still see the dragon hovering in the distance from the mountain top I was on!

in oblivion i didnt mind the combat, and by the looks of it judging by videos of gameplay the combat doesnt seem bad either, improved alot too but would of loved it anyway if they kept it the same as oblivion.(melee combat)
the only thing that bugged me in that game was the 3rd person view while running and how weird it looked and the horses. how are the animations in skyrim?

I should of put the title as ''questions about skyrim'' since i have alot of them haha but oh well..

I had only played Oblivion, which I found great
Never got 120 hours on a game so fast (fast as in days, you know that)
And Skyrim looks better, feels better, and just is better
So yes, I got what I wanted

Honestly, UI on the PC is not great, its quite unintutive and awkward, however the game itself if so good its very easy to look past that. It really is a masterpiece (apart from the UI ;-) )

Ohok, seems fair then, i would of thought they would of appeared alot and was worried that that would of been quiet annoying especially just starting out and having a dragon kill you the minute you walked out of the very first dungeon

They're "unlocked" by main story progress, and the further along you get the more and more often you see them. So if you don't do the main story at first, you probably won't see any at all till you do. That doesn't mean they're all quest related, just that they won't spawn until the main story reaches a certain point.

I've seen around eight or nine dragons so far. Killed seven of them, mercilessly and brutally. They are great and very awesome to look at, but thankfully not too hard to kill.
