I heard in another thread someone saying that it's not released until 8th December 2011 for Japan. As steam is localised, I would imagine it will only unlock on this date.

Sorry for the bad news :(

Not getting the service you paid for is against the law.

He'll get what he paid for when it officially releases for him. On December 3rd.

If you buy the game with a VPN to evade tax laws that's naughty-naugthy. To get the game you paid for at the same time as everyone else? For a copy bought in the UK?

Use a VPN. Bethesda would agree.

You cant avade tax these days in civilized world(lol). If you import something from other country, or order online, you still get to pay the tax before you get to have the item.

And to that "that he will get that on 3rd december" - well, i gues he should have been charged on 3r of december too.

I am not Japanese, and i buy imported games since years, now all you say about the law makes no sense,i bought an ORIGINAL copy of the game, and no matter where i live i deserve to play the game at the same time when the others can play.
i have the right to play with my original copy of the game like the others as well!

People, stop suggesting ways to get around the steam check.

Similarly, we do not allow discussion methods of circumventing the Steam check or of Cracks that violate the terms of a game's EULA.

In the FAQ that Gstaff posted: http://store.steampowered.com/forums/

Link to the steam forums. Or you could go to their tech support and submit a question.

Contacting Steam will not do you ANY good. You are bound by the release date in your country. I have a friend who was gifted FEAR 3 in Japan and had it literally sit in his games list unplayable for months until it finally released in Japan.

This is a downside to DRM.

In other words - bethesda just does not care after it got his money?

Typical.

Steam doesn't care what your nationality is, or where your copy was bought. They care about where the computer you're registering it on is. You're in Japan, using a Japanese IP? Then you're held to the Japanese release date.

Pretty straightforward.

Doesn't make any sense to have the game bounded to Steam in the first place.
It's for DRM? Sure, the game was cracked AS SOON as Steam unlocked it, so no.

It just make things difficult for people who actually bought the game.
Pirates will play, don't matter how hard you try to implement DRM.

Oblivion had NO DRM whatsoever and sold just fine.

Ok,thanks for the many replies, most of you were nice, others not,but it is ok.
i think the only solution is to wait that STEAM will release the game officially in Japan as well.
still,i don`t get this strange way for releasing games,if someone purchase an original steam product
in my humble opinion no matter where he live,he have the right to play the game straightforward.
