Most creatures are very very hard!

Trolls, frost trolls, mammoths, giants, bears, ice wraiths, saber tooth cats etc are just nearly impossible to defeat. Some of them can 1 hit me and saber tooth cats take half my hp in 1 hit. I am playing on adept lvl 19.
I am upgrading my light armor and most in stamina and magicka, but ofc also a little health. Is the game just very hard or do I really HAVE to upgrade in more defense/health?
I am not complaing that it is hard, I like that. But really.. I cant even kill that stupid bear or cat without having to drink several potions and run forwards and backwards while cooldowns expires

So you'd like to just steamroll them as you do bandits? It's good that there are challenging monsters that force you to use tactics and all the tools at your disposal. That's what makes games fun.

Playing on Expert here and I just encountered my first sabertooth outside Whiterun at lvl 8 (Heavy armor Battlemage). Didn't even scratch me. I was expecting something for more daunting.

Yes there are challenging parts to this game but that is what makes this game so fun and good. Its not like other games where you can just run and take a whole army out with one attack.

I'm playing at adept, I'm level 19 and I killed a giant once, frost trolls are easy, dragons are easier, spriggans are hard but killable, bears and tigers are also easy. Just not more than two. Oh and I'm using a skyforge sword (superior) and a steel shield, with lots of perks in both, and I havent touched a single spell, not even once.

Yes, they're hard...

I killed a dragon with a level 6....
But I couldn't kill the frost troll while I was climbing the 7000 steps... I died, then I used 5 fire ball scrolls to kill him... You know, those that hit 60 points for 10 seconds... Or something that big

BTW, there is a book in Skyrim that teaches you how to kill a troll...
Well, it helped me...

Well ya make sure you take perks for armor and perhaps every other level also add health on level up too

What kind of character are you playing? I also use light armor but I'm an archer so I spend most of my time kiting, either to gain distance to shoot an arrow or to cast healing spells. If I tried to melee those monsters in my paltry armor I'd die very quickly as well. Have you at least perked your light armor?

I steam roll giants, trolls and mammoths as an archer. I dont even need to stand on a mountain or such to take out giants.

By all means, they do 1 hit me, or come very close to it but thats kinda the point. Don't get hit.

I'm really dumb founded how melee are supposed to take out a giant without magic or a bow.

Gaints are well worth it, they will give you alot of income. (100's of gold, decent quality gems, enchanted armor, alchemy ingredients etc)
-they also guard a chest which is generally worth even more, i got something like 3000 gold worth of enchanted items from my last plundering.

Mammoths aren't worth the trouble. the most valuable item they drop is mammoth tusk (worth 150 gold) (i have killed about 15 mammoths thus far, yet to see anything more valuable drop)

How i kill giants as archer:

1) stand as far away as possible, with an escape route incase something goes horribly wrong (such as rocky mountains, which they cannot climb)

2) Open up with a sneak attack (ensure your bow is poisoned)

3) Aim and shoot, ensuring you use eagle eye to slow time

4) when giant gets too close, use whirlwind shout.

If you have decent enough bow and arrows the giant will nearly be dead already, at this point aim and shoot and by the time he gets within 15 feet of you he will drop to his knees Then walk up and put a arrow in his head and LOL

In the item menu it says i do 80 damage, and thats just with an elven bow (improved to epic), i haven't even bothered crafting a glass bow, im just waiting out til dragon smithing.

EDIT: one of the dragon priest handed my bottom to me on a silver platter though, didnt die but had to duck and take cover all the time (which feels like cheating tbh)

It's probably to do with armour. I could kill sabertooth cats 1v1 at expert around level 10, but then again I had a full superior steel armor set, and upwards of 150 health. If you're squishy you need to find a less direct approach to killing them. I'd advise to travel on horseback and just run away when one attacks you if you don't feel comfortable fighting them.

Well, it helped me...

Took me 90 arrows, lots of kiting, climbing rocks (which he cleverly found a way around). It killed Lydia after tossing her around a bit (and she now peacefully rests at the entrance of the monastery). Then I ran for help to the pilgrim, who was quickly dropped by thd Troll in one hit and fled to the woods screaming "Spaaaaare meee". At last, we were about one strike from killing each other and shouting FUS confused him for just the second I needed to survive the battle with a tiny sliver of hp left.
On my way back I kick the troll's carcass and look around warily, hoping it's not a common sight. That's when I hear a growl and a huge shadow of a dragon stretches before me on the moonlit snow...
And that's why you never play on easy. The game is way more fun when you need to outsmart your enemies, instead of using raw power. When you can't beat them, you run!

This is where most racial abilities comeinto play. If you are backed into a corner you use your shout or ability.

The hardest i encountered was a mage who appeared near "dragon wall" from which u learn new shouts after i defeated my first blood dragon. Used all my health potions, and had to use alot of tactics (took me like 30 min to kill)

I actually thought the same thing as OP at first, but that's before I was utilizing distance to my advantage. With most enemies you can find a weak point in their distance where you can lure them into attacking, but you can move back a certain amount such that they don't actually connect. If you have any sort of ranged spell for use right after they attack or a weapon that you can charge forward with right after they attack, I think you'll find that you can use distance and timing to your advantage. :)
