How soon after entering Skyrim did you make your way to riften and join the theifs guild?

Not until the Dark Brotherhood sent me there

I went shortly after I killed my second or third dragon. probably about 5 hours into the game.

Basically as quickly as possible. As soon as I heard about it I made my way to Riften, maybe 4 or 5 hours in.

Not until I got the quest that sent me there. Really like that village though, shame the shops are a bit crap or I'd maek it my home.

If you didn't make your way there right away, what did you focus on in the first few hours with your character?

I didn't know the thieves guild was in riften so I was robbing whoever for a while first.

I'm on my way there now. I did some of the main quest first. Explored a bit in the Companions Guild and did some of their missions. I also took out a few bandits camps as well. I then proceeded to Windhelm (what a dreary place to live btw) where I was sent to Riften to kill the teacher or whatever. Currently on my way there by foot. Ran into a Giants Camp. He didn't want to talk. :\

I joined the Thieves Guild during the quest from Windhelm that sends you to the orphanage.

My thief is my 2nd character, so I already knew that that Thieves Guild was in Riften. I headed there immediately after Helgen.
