Where Are All The Torches?

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 12:39 pm

I'm clocked at 18the hours and i've found 1 torch. That's it. Did Beth mean to say that torches were rarer instead of arrows?

How long do they last though? I've had the same torch since I left Riverwood (about 14 hours, play time) and it's still going strong.

It seems so. Though I've found arrows to be slightly rarer than oblivion.

Enter a mine, look for the wooden torches mounted on the side of beams, just not the metal ones often found in old tombs. You can activate them to get the torch, activate them again to place a torch. Do this to kill the lights for stealth, a nice trick. The other reason is to get the torch for keeps.

Also, you should be able to purchase some at General Goods stores, but I can't tell you where because I've never needed any torches at all.

Haha. Apparently. Because arrows aren't rare, but torches are rarer than flawless rubies.

This is why the torches being rare isn't a problem. I've never seen one burn out so far (30+ hours in). They may NEVER burn out for all I know. So you would only need to find one.

Second, the lighting is VERY well designed in Skyrim, so there is only rarely a need to use a torch to begin with.

Torches can be used as weapons though.

Oh, well. Guess there went my "they never burn out" theory. I must have a REALLY good torch.

Actually... this may be a bug, but if you take torches out of sconces in mines, dungeons, etc, then exit the underground, then return... all the torches you took are respawned. Therefore, you basically have infinite free torches.

Mine burnt out quickly as well. You'd think you would be able to craft one...

Guess it just depends upon where you go. In my first few hours of playing I found at least 6 torches and stopped picking them up.
