30 gold for chopping three pieces of wood?

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 11:41 am

I know that later in the game 30 gold will seem like nothing, but it's kind of sad that at the beginning of the game it's more rewarding to do mindless, repetitive tasks like this that only require a single mouse click, than to actually play the game. It seems like it's just an endless pile of wood that I can keep clicking on forever, getting money by doing nothing.

I think it should be 3-6 gold each time you chop wood, not 30. That's just ridiculous.

It's not a great way of making money unless you are like 100 short for something then it could be useful.

What? Where? I've never got that much for wood, I guess you're supposed to turn it into somebody.

Better solution: lower the reward for mindless tasks so they don't seem like a better way to make money than actually playing the game.

Still won't beat selling enchanted goods to decent vendors with cash to burn.

Takes too long... I rather loot people and sell their stuff to get money...

You don't even have to leave the city, you don't have to restock the pile of wood, you don't have to do anything but click once per three chops. It's a faster way to make money than killing bandits, at least early in the game. The reward of 30 gold just doesn't make sense - it should be 1/10 of that.

Well my Hod died, I found his body washed up in the river...so I never got a chance to take advantage of this... but I don't think it's a problem. 30 is really not that much. At least thus far every time I feel rich, I go on a spending spree and I'm broke before i know it. Skyrim seems to have inflation over Oblivion.

Regardless, not sure why you want to waste time grinding for gold in a single player game, I'd much rather be exploring, even if it is less profitable.

Soultion for OP: Stop chopping wood and start playing, then you will realize that 30 gold doesn't get you jack

Seriously, I am level 8 and I have 3000 gold. You're not going to even be able to buy the most basic healing potion for 30 gold, and considering the animation is entirely interactless and rather long, 30 gold is almost too little.

I actually find it hilarious that someone is complaining that you get too much gold for chopping wood all day. Really?
