Skyrim is a great game, as is Deus Ex Human Revolution and a lot of other games. But what is up with the ridiculously tiny text in menus, subtitles and whatnot. I can barely read anything in the game. teatures? oh wait, FEATURES ok. Fair enough. But this can't possibly be healthy for our eyes.

Why do all the newest 360 games, including Skyrim, use such tiny fonts? Am I forced to buying a 40" HDTV just so I can see things clearly? Thanks a lot, Bethesda. Didn't realize the game actually costs $500. But hey, who cares right? /rant. lol j/k.

im playing on a 26" vizio and can see everything fine, could it be a zoom or picture setting on your tv? or check the in game menues (if you can read em :/)

Forced, no but a lot of games are being made for widescreen televisions now. Soon enough all games will be made like that, so us smuchs with older nonwidescreen tv's will either have to deal with it or get a widescreen tv.

If your tv is getting old then it may be time for a new one.

We used to play on our typical 27" square tubed TV and it was so abysmal trying to read text in *any* of the 360 games that we own.

We finally splurged one christmas and bought, I don't know what, 42 or 52 inch flat screen. Now all the text is clear in every 360 game that we play on it, well that and the picture is just so much better in video games and tv itself.

Maybe it's time?

Do you have an HDTV? Or is it an SD tube? If it's a tube TV this has been a problem since the system came out because it is an HD system, meant to be viewed on a HDTV. If you can't afford one that svcks, but I doubt they'll change the text to be large just to accommodate the few people that haven't upgraded to HD, which isn't an unfair assumption since it costs a couple hundred bucks for a 360 it's not far-fetched to think the same person also has an HDTV.

i have the same problem with the text (have an old tube tv). have also found that the writing at the top left goes beyond the edge of my tv,so i cannot read it all.have tried the widescreen mode on the 360,but it just looks horrible on my non wide screen tv.

I'm playing on a 42" HDTV and the text does seem smaller, even on that.

I can read it fine most of the time, but the first night, after several hours of playing, my sleep-deprived eyes were having trouble focusing on the text.

Oh it's definitely time, but I'm currently saving up for a PC so I can start modding things and whatnot. But it seems like I'm forced to wait yet another few months for the PC, I'll have to think long and hard about it.

If you have PC Monitor with a higher resolution than your SD TV, you could connect the Xbox360 to the monitor instead. Should improve the image quality and makes text more readable.
Otherwise a new TV or a patch by Bethesda for SD TVs are the only other solutions.

Yea, I agree with ya OP. It's not just Xbox, it's PS3 as well. It's as if people just assume all of us are rich and can afford this giant TV. I'm fortunate to have really good eyesight, and I can read most of the text in the game, but it still svcks.

I literally have to stand directly infront of the tv to be able to read the text!

But really, these comments are getting [censored] tiresome. Complaining that your archaic bubble tube doesn't display high res images properly is like complaining that this game doesn't run when you put it in your original xbox.

You just need a HD tv and HDMI or component cable. You could easily read the text with say maybe a 20" HD TV at a cost of around $150

Not so sure about that....i'm on PS3, have a 40" HDTV with the HDMI hooked up and still have to squint to see the text. The text really needs to be a few points larger...just sayin'.

Oh I guess I just don't have this problem then, played on both 26"(HD) and 42"(HD) and I had no trouble reading text.

But with a SD TV I would think the text would be hard to read. I feel like about every 360 game I have played in SD the text was hard to read, I don't see how this should be a surprise if you have played other games on the 360 with text.

I play on the 360 with a 46 in samsung and the text does seem small, after 5 hours I had a headache. Fallout NV txt size was nice.
