Certain races lacking in Skyrim?

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 10:08 am

Hey all,

One thing I have noticed is that there appear to be very few Argonians, Khajiit and Orcs in this game. I'm only 15 hours in, so perhaps I'm being too quick to judge, but so far I've barely met any of the aforementioned in the way of NPC's you can actually talk to. Thinking about it; I've spoken to two Khajiit, one Orc, and I haven't even spoken to an Argonian, yet on my travels I encounter a lot of them as bandits. Has anyone else noticed this? I wasn't expecting them to be prominent in Skyrim, but it just seems to me as though they are rather lacking. Am I just not looking in the right places perhaps?

Other than a few issues and minor gripes I have with the game, I think Skyrim is excellent and I think Bethesda have done an excellent job, so well done! :)

Seems pretty realistic to me. I mean, who would pick Skyrim as a vacation destination? Dunmer maybe, but it's not like they had much of a choice.

There are a lot of Argonians in Riften. The orcs are concentrated in their strongholds. Most Khajiit are traders, or members of the Thieves' Guild.

There ya go.

20 hours so far and the only Khajiit I've found was dead. I haven't seen any argonians yet.

There are tons of Orcs in the Reach area. Most of the Argonians are in Riften and Windhelm. The Khajiit mostly live in camps outside of the cities.

Yes, I think Bethesda neglected to add enough beast race NPCs to the game. No Khajiit can be found living in cities at all. You can't even marry them.

Skyrim isn't their homeland, they are just travelers for the most part. Orc's tend be in encampments.
Its basically Nord territory.

Would you want to live in Skyrim if you were cold-blooded? :P

I've only met one Argonian, he seemed quite cool until he tried to sacrifice me. <_<

Want to meet some nice Argonians? Go to Riften. There's an Argonian couple that owns a tavern.

Good point. I don't think I've seen any Altmer yet, though I can't say that saddens me! ;)
But yeah the only Khajit and Argonians I meet are either thieves or skooma dealers.

Oh, they're in Skyrim. And they are all pretentious bastards, at least the ones I've met. My character isn't very stab happy, but I spent 1 minute talking to a certain Altmer and decided I wanted to follow them back home and stab them to death in their sleep.

I've seen a lot of orcs in the Reach, and several Khaijit and Argonians elsewhere. Dunmer are probably the most plentiful race after Nords. The demographics feel about right, since Skyrim is the "home of men" and far north and secluded.

One Khajiit tells you that they aren't welcome in the cities. Argonians are treated as lower class. Nords are incredibly racist. Not just to Elves.

I can see why that's be a shock, coming from Oblivion. Cyrodiil was the place were all the races lived in harmony, in Skyrim there's a lot more racism and seclusion.

I think it is quite realistic.
