I love everything about this game except the map

Skyrim is quite possible the greatest game i ever played. I love every thing about it except the map. While it beautiful to look at its not very useful. Since the mountains are every where, it would be nice if there were road or paths on it so i could get to locations better. But this is a small annoyance what is pretty much gaming perfection

Yeah I wish I could swap it out with an ingame map such as the preorder one.

I actually keep that one next to me at all times.

I have to agree with you there, and also, can we please not have those clouds blocking things. I love the look of the new map, but what's wrong with a coloured paper one?

Yep I have been walking everywhere and have lost count of the number of times I got lost or had to back-track because I could not find the main road! It would be nice to be able to see just the biggest roads marked on the map. Getting lost is fun mind you, but sometimes you just want to walk from A to B.

I agree, now the map looks cool but is pretty much useless.

Yea, altho the graphics etc are great it doesn't feel ingame, it more feels like an overview of a 3d adventure/action game. I prefer the flat rpg map.

We're complaining about maps now?

I love the new world map. Zooming out to view it really gives it an epic sense of scale.
In Oblivion, it was terrible! just a brown piece of crap until someone modded an elven coloured version.

Still, it would be cool if there is a mod that adds in an ingame "paper" map working side by side with the current one.

Yes. Giving feedback on things we're not entirely happy with is such a strange and otherworldly concept.
Maybe we should just agree with Bethesda on every single point so they can make the future TES games exactly like Skyrim, just in another province!

Yeah I said I wasn't going to use magic of any kind but taking one look at the map made me get clairvoyance. :brokencomputer:

Stop trolling please, we can complain about whatever little things we want so long as we don't whine the way you whine about us.

Yeah it's very cool but not so great for the actually getting to where you want to go part. A couple of times now I've spent twenty minutes trekking up what looked on the map like a pass only to end up in a dead end.

I bought Clairvoyance but I haven't used it yet...yet. Would be nice if we could switch to a paper map that actually had roads and trails on it. Manageable though.

No one disagrees that the map looks cool, it's just not that useful. There are no visible roads to travel.

Yeah, the problem is.... I don't need a map to be "cool". I need to to give information. The beige 2D map in Oblivion did that - you could see where roads where, which way it was to Skingrad, and all that. This map... well, you can sort of see which way you might want to go. Sometimes. And it scrolls and rotates kind of clumsily, so it's slower to use than the OB map. And the 3D effect doesn't always provide the info in a clear way - scroll the map to the wrong position and the relationship between places on that big mountain in the middle ends up quite wrong.

So, yeah. A parchment colored, 2D map like in Oblivion (or the paper one included in the Skyrim box) would be a heck of alot more functional for a map.
