The iron weapons and armor look incredible, and pretty BA. Steel is also fine.
Then you get to Orcish, which is fairly ugly. Dwarven and Elvish even more so, especially Elvish. I wouldn't be seen dead in that.
There isn't enough simplistic equipment out there. Can't I have a sword as good as an Elven sword, but not so flowery?

I got a very nice daedric mace from a quest, so i would assume there are more daedric/enchanted weapons with epic looks.
