i have just bought my first elder scrolls game and i am wondering what is the best class to make and if there is anything that you guys can recommend to get me started on the "right foot"

My advice would be, for now, go with the flow! Just use the best stuff you have for a while and see what you enjoy doing. That said, you are probably best off using a warrior type for your first playthrough. There is enough variety of weapons to give you some freedom with your build. Don't neglect non-combat skills. Being able to make basic potions is a valuable skill. All the crafting skills are actually useful. Remember though - levelling up non-combat skills helps you level up. So your enemies level up. MAKE SURE YOUR COMBAT SKILLS KEEP PACE.
