How do I recharge weapon? : V

I just got the first enchanted sword I plan to keep. It's missing like a quarter of charge so I clicked on a petty soul gem but nothing happened. How do I recharge my items?

Go to the sword, in the bottom left of the screen it should say what hotkey to press to recharge.

you need a filled soul gem to recharge it

You need soul gems. Then select weapon on inventory and select Charge "T" in PC and choose the type of soul gem

you need to have a full soul gem, then go to your weapon on the menu and press RB on the xbox or T on the PC.

Do you lose the soul gem when you recharge items?
