Take it slooooooow...?

I find myself walking at a slow, steady pace much more often than I did in Oblivion. Every square inch of Skyrim is dripping with style and emotion, I just wants to absorb as much of it as possible. I was always the type who's pace was "left stick, full throttle" (xbox 360) but, I can't bring myself to rush through this awe inspiring terrain.

As I was climbing to High Horthgar, the aurora appeared in the sky and the music cranked up. Snowy gusts of wind were blowing in my face as I slowly climbed the mountain, reading the engraved stones chronicling the history of The Voice. This sequence was amazing. This game is truly a work of art that needs to be savored and relished. Anyone else finding themselves slowing down to appreciate all the beauty?

Yeah, I just spent a good amount of time in the Bannered Mare in Whiterun, just listening to the Bard while talking to the other people there, good time.

my favorite part is roaming the planes andatching the mammoths and giants, amazing views and it does have a great feel, i started the main quest then went away from it after i completed a few, i find it more enjoyable doing nothing and roaming much more than in oblivion, i was roaming the fields found a bandit camp, killed ll the bandits then found a book in this cave below the bandit chiefs hut, it said hes been storing treasures in this cave then had to move o this small island near a tree stump, i found the stump and took his treasure, little things like that they have in skyim really make it enojyable

Not sure if you knew this already or not but you can actually request a specific song to be played by the Bard if you talk to him :)

Isn't it amazing how you can find peace in a game surrounded by so much chaos? Sitting in an inn, listening to music, and maybe reading a few books you picked up along the way.

I'm slowly teaching my fiance how to fully enjoy a TES game. She wasn't reading any of the flavor "journals" she was picking up as she went through some of the quests and I pointed out to her "Hey, try reading that journal, the guy you just killed? He wrote it!" Suffice it to say, it ended up being a very entertaining read that shed a lot of light on the quest that she would have missed.

I have been walking(not running) everywhere until recently. I am just so overwhelmed by the scenery, it reminds me of why I love visiting Yellowstone park and the Olympic Rainforest every summer. The meadows and mountains and clouds and weather,....I love how your character's legs account for uneven terrain and you lean into steep hills and stairs. I walked all the way from Whiterun to High Hrothgar up the 7,000 Steps, it took over 3 hours to get there (and a dragon attacked me on the side of a cliff on the 7000 steps). Now after 3 days I am level 10 and have bought a horse, I still walk slowly on the horse most of the time, only galloping on my way home after I complete a quest. I've been walking in games for 15 years that let you toggle walk, but nothing has been so much fun as Skyrim.

Yes. I find myself taking everything in a lot more than I did in Oblvion. There are so many small details that make this game world feel alive. A work of art indeed. Well done Bethesda.

I've been taking it very slow as well, I've played for 8 ingame days now (not much time to play, and spending lots of time on my skyrim blog (see my signature) ), and I'm still wandering Riverwood and its direct surroundings, I haven't been to another town or city yet. I should go and walk North one of these days, but I need a day to recover from my first real quest assignment I did, and I want to explore along the south-side of lake ilinalta first, oh and check out the ruins in it too. Guess I'm staying in riverwood a bunch longer before having a look in Whiterun, lol.

this game is so much more dang fun than oblivion was at launch. it was hard to play oblivion, the engine faught you almost every step of the way. skyrim has been such a treat in that respect I'm just enamored with the art and music so far. combat and lore are just icing on the cake hehe
