Imperial legion AND storm cloaks : V

I keep going back and forth between joining the imperial legion and storm cloaks. I have reasons to join amd not to join both. So what I'm asking is can you join BOTH? Or if you join one, does it lock you out of the other?

Short reply: you can only join one

Long answer:

join one faction, at the end of the civil war questline you are able to deliver the crown to either. This still means your a member of one faction however you can roleplay as a double agent or something

You only can join one cause you get quest failed for the other faction once join so example, if I join the Imperial Legion it will say joining the rebels failed. So technically you only can join one.
