Skyrim is SO UNIQUE!

Post » Thu May 10, 2012 9:09 pm

Skyrim went beyond my expectations (of course, lots of bugs and issues, but nothing major), and I was VERY hyped before.

Thank you bethesda for another unique and amazing game. It's really a step up from Oblivion which disappointed me. I have that feeling of "Lost" "Small" and "Adventurous" again. :') been so long.

I am loving it too. I can play the game for a few hours then then take a break but within an hour or two the world of Skyrim beckons me to continue my quest.

I've gone through several games that I pick up, get bored and don't want to play them again. Not to mention I admittedly scare very easily, bore easily, and I also get Video-Game induced Motion Sickness, etc, so I can't play through the Storyline in COD: Black Ops, but the online gaming is fun with friends (but the motion sickness is still a problem).

I played Skyrim for 3 hours last night and came out of it with nothing less than happiness and a sore neck. No sickness, gameplay is straightforward and not overly challenging, and I barely broke the surface of the game. In those 3 hours I haven't even completed a quest yet (well except for Unbound of course, and I think one more) but can't wait to play again. I'm definitely finding I have a fond love of RPG games where I can do what I want, and I'm definitely glad I picked up this game that I didn't even know about until I walked into the store and saw it on the New Releases shelf. :)

It's not a game. It's an object of diety.

So. Extremely. Jealous. Waiting was so so so so so painful for this game.

I agree, although there's one thing that I really prevered in Oblivion.

The respawn day of 3 days. I travel without a horse or fast travel, so I use the same roads loads of times, you can probably imagine it getting quite boring when animals, bandits and all those guys don't respawn rapidly.
When someone decides to mod this, it'll likely be the best game I've ever played.

Bethesdea know how to not just make a single great game, but they have discovered the secret to making a bunch of great games in one. Pick any element from Skyrim and it could be put into a full blown £40 AAA title. Yet we get it in one great, seemless package and its un-be-lieavable

Lol, I didn't actually think anyone would nitpick at that odd statement. Unbound obviously has to be completed or you're not going to do much in the game I assume. And I have some odd feeling that I completed another one but I didn't look. So that's why I worded it that way. I have been told I'm confusing so explaining myself is nothing new though it get's old lol.

But what's the thing with your gaming disease? sounds bad to have it.. never heard of it before..
I know people having epileptic attacks or something, but that's not what you are suffering from, right?

I've played about 6 hours. So far, Skyrim feels like a real place. Oblivion felt more like a cardboard backdrop somehow.

I think it's partly the more well-thought-out world design (industry, farms, cities that make sense) and partly that there seems to be more stuff going on that doesn't revolve around the player.

Whatever it is, I love it.

Well, it's not like a doctor diagnosed me or anything and it's not really a disease, though I don't believe epilepsy is either, but it makes sense to me because the symptoms are the same (yes I googled it lol). It's definitely not as bad as a seizure, but it's still not great to have, I can't play through the game anymore. I get a bad headache, and my stomach hurts and I can't really focus anymore. It's also know as Simulator Sickness. I don't know what's different from Halo, and COD compared to Skyrim.

Ironically, people who don't get /actual/ motion sickness (like on a boat, or roller coaster), are more likely to get it through a video game. I don't know if I'm allowed to post a link here to info on it, but one theory about it is that your body believes it has been poisoned and you are hallucinating the movement you see but don't feel. So if one continues to play through the nauseous symptoms you may vomit to get rid of the supposed toxins.

I definitely have the "Morrowind Feel" back again. Im trying to think what Morrowind and Oblivion do better at this point. As of now, I can only think of really tiny, minor details. I think im jumping on the bandwagon that Skyrim is the best ever.

The size and scope are amazing!

Other than the PC UI, Skyrim has been beating my expectations and I expect a lot out of Bethesda.

In my opinion it's essentially Fallout 3: Fantasy edition. Which isn't a bad thing. It's more Fallout than Oblivion though. Combat, graphics, gameplay, stats, progression, everything. Very reminiscent.
