Soul Stealer Perk Problem?

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 8:37 am

Hi guys, first time posting here. So I decided to go into the conjuration side of things. I picked up soul stealer as one of my perks, but I've noticed a huge problem...correct me if I'm wrong here.

So every time I use a conjured weapon (which is my source of damage), it will trap the soul. Problem is is that it is filling up my bigger gems, like commons, with petty souls. If I understand correctly, once you fill a gem with a soul it is permanent, like you can't "clear space". So, I find this more to be a problem than a perk, since I'm essentially just wasting gems. And yet, my main source of damage is my bounded weapons, so I can't do without them. This is a pretty big problem imo. Any suggestions to help me out here? It's too late to go back and not take that perk.

Just store all your gems until you need to fill them. Other than that, not much you can do besides not use the bound weapons.

See that's my gripe. Why should a perk have negative consequences on my character? It seems pretty lousy that now I have to watch myself and play ever so carefully not to fill up my big gems because my "perk" may just screw me over. I really think that's pretty unacceptable. And there is no way to remove souls from a gem?

Well you could start enchanting stuff, and if you dont want it sell it off. You choose the perk so the conseqeunce should fall on you

Does enchanting destroy the gem? Or just the soul trapped?

Both, you will find more gems as you go along no need to hang onto them.....unless youre a TES hoarder

Hi guys, spent about 30 mins on the Interwebs....

Ok, so, for PC, this is how I removed Soul Stealer (horrible perk).

First, open console (default is the '~' key)

Second, type: help "soul stealer" 4

Of course, you can type in whatever perk you want removed. It dumps some data, look for a 8 character hexadecimal number.

Finally, type: player.removeperk

Pesky horrible perk gone =)

Edit: Does not refund point, gotta look at that

Yeah, but I didn't realize the dynamics of how gems and trapping souls and stuff worked til way later =(

Ran into the same problem, but I still like the perk.

I don't worry too much about my Lesser gems, or even my Commons. Above that, I store them in my Companion's inventory, and grab them quick when we fight something tough.

It's not a perfect solution, but I'm pretty happy with it for now.
