Where is the good loot? Level 13 and im still using mace fro

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 11:48 am

Good evening!

2 things

A) I'm level 13, and i've yet to find any good loot. I've just spent almot 30 minutes in 2 dwemer ruins, only find 1 master locked door with a chest containing pure crap. The fact that i'm still using my mace from the start of the game says a lot. Are bethseda STILL using that HORRENDOUS level loot crap from oblivion? Where can I find good swords, maces magic etc?? Please don't spoil anything for me. Just tell me they aren't using that crappy level based loot from oblivion? I'm like 15 hours in skyrim, and exploring caves, ruins, etc for nothing kinda puts me off. This is exactly what renedered oblivion to a stall for me.

B) I've killed 2 dragons now, they hardly present any challenge. Read that different dragons are more difficult. is this true?

This game feels more like morrowind for me, i'm just hoping someone can shed some light on the loot issue

Thank You :)

No idea what you're doing wrong, but I'm level 12, and have already started running into Dwarven stuff. Not to mention the armour/weapons I can craft myself.

I got better loot like at lvl 6-8 do quests. They send you to places where you can find nice loot.

I've had orc stuff since level 10 now at 14 getting dwemer stuff. If you find dragons easy I have two things to say 1) It is no fun if dragons can instantly kill you on normal 2) Turn it up to master then see if it is easy

Quests eh?

Okay maybe that's the problem then. THanks i'm gonna do some more quests.

Shadow Stealer, yes it's fun for me if the Dragons are actually dangerous. Shouldn't we FEAR dragons?

Changing the difficulty in this game is just like oblivion, it takes a lot longer to kill an enemy, it doesn't solve the problem.

Thanks for the suggestions guys, i'm gonna do some more quests then running around in the wild.

I don't know, I find pretty decent gear in my adventures, but I smith my own stuff anyway.

I agree dragons aren't too difficult once you got your playstyle/strategy down, but there are more difficult dragons out there. I've only faced 4-5 dragons (im lvl 21), but 2 of those were blood dragons, which were a little tougher. I think once I start getting well into the main quest line, the bad ass dragons will start popping out and not alone either. I'm sure they'll figure out eventually that they'll need an army to take me down!!!

I've found a few unique weapons in my travels (about 23ish hours).
Here's an example of one I found.. (minor spoiler)

Spoiler

Ghostblade--It's an ethereal sword that deals damage + true magicka damage. It looks freaking awesome!

Don't know if that will give you hope--but it sure did for me. :)

I never ever fast travel, and even though my new toon is level 9, i found both orchish and dwarven armor and weapons in caves and ruins. Its out there, go out and explore. Oh, and ramp up diffeculty. Made the game alot more fun for me. Well, getting 2 shotted by frost trolls, snow sabletooth tigers is maybe not so great, but hey. All in all, omg so much fun :)

I smithed a crapton of iron daggers to powerlevel my smithing up and made a full set of dwarven armor (minus the shield since I'm a battlemage) and a few Orcish weapons. But that's just me. If you have alot of time on your hands you could do that.

If you do some quests and raid some caves etc you can find all sorts of majick! weapons. I have disenchanted more of them then I have sold to date. I have shock, ice, moon, etc enchantments I can put on me weapons or armor. Stamina, lockpicking, adds to majick! etc on armor. I am currently wearing a self enchanted suit of full dwarven armor/flawless. Gotta love crafting, my dwarven dual wields are a mace with shock and a axe with soul trap. I also have lightbringer which is nice against undead.

I found an enchanted orc bow in a bandit camp, that feels like a long time ago, and I'm still using it at lvl 20ish. I have found better since, but only slightly better, nothing I feel is a must use now.

To answer the OP: There are some fixed stat items to be found but for the most part loot level scaling is back.

I'm in the same boat as you. Level 18 and found nothing. At least our luck will start later in the game hopefully. Let these people have their loot in the beginning :)

I got lucky on this iteration :)

Found a unique magical akaviri katana in about the 5th random dungeon I happened on by wandering west of the start town.

Most of my good loot comes from specific quests.

I love when a blood/named dragon drops iron arrows, lol.

I want unique, named items, not some "Steel Sword of Ice" crap.
I want like truly legendary items, if it has a quest behind it, much better.

I must say that I'm not doing much quest right now, I did like 9 quests, lvl 18 here, and I'm using that elven sword from the showcase on Dragonsreach (I stole it).
There's some badass equipment later on? Like unique, named swords and armour?
I'm kind of disapointed until this point.

I just bought a helm that has permanent underwater breathing - at level 13. Was cheap too.

Found 50% frost resist armour in my 1st dungeon.

+40 magicka Helm in the second one...guess I was lucky
