Morrowind-y aspects...

I loved Morrowind for all of those unforgettable moments --> going into the ancestral tomb, opening the chest and having the message "You suddenly feel quite cold" pop-up. *shivers* (I have yet to obtain my copy of Skyrim so I have no situation of my own, but have you encountered any awesome things in Skyrim that bring you back to those long hours playing Morrowind?

Definitely. Skyrim has "It". I can't define what "It" is, but Fallout 3/New Vegas had "It" as well. Even Shivering Isles had "It" to some degree. Morrowind is the epitome of "It". Oblivion did not have "It", not even close.

Verisimilitude is the best word I can use to describe it, in some ways Skyrim is even better at it than Morrowind.

But yes, there appears to be two kinds of dungeons in Skyrim: Quest related dungeons and Radient Story dungeons which are not linked to a specific quest but despite this they aren't just random and generic like 90% of the forts/ruins/caves were in Oblivion. Every dungeon I've encountered has had something unique going on (just like in Morrowind).

I'm pretty pleased with Skyrim so far, and this is from someone with a love/hate relationship with Morrowind/Oblivion (loved Morrowind, hated Oblivion)

It's too bad a mod that adds in Morrowind's combat would be difficult or impossible.

That is not a joke, this ARPG nonsense is nowhere near as great as MW's dice roll mechanics.

Its the depth...the originality....the not knowing at all what is round the next corner....that what 'it' is.

play any storyline and the plots are simply amazing, and if you go the extra step and read the in-game books and information about the quests your doing there is so much lore and thought gone into them. Not to mention, if you have played past games, and/or know the lore for the series quite well some of the plots are simply gold.

I completely agree, that originality was absolutely amazing. I didn't quite hate Oblivion, but it definitely didn't have "it" the way that morrowind did. But everybody who has the game, I want details :)

I don't make "this" posts. I've NEVER made a "this" post before. But, I mean...just...this.

Somehow, the atmosphere is similar to Morrowind, yes. More gloomy, dark, variable, epic, scary, ethereal, hazy, eerie and exciting than Oblivion. I agree whole-heartedly that Skyrim has *it*. :) It feels magical.

Well, everyone has posted what I feel pretty much. This game definitely has the magic of Morrowind in it. Obviously it's much different than Morrowind, but like others have said, it has that same "it" factor. Skyrim is a magical, harsh place, and everything about the game is so well thought out and executed that you're able to get completely lost in the world. That's the best compliment you can give the game really. It's very immersive and feels like a real world. Much, much better than Oblivion.

I was trekking back to Whiterun from Dawnstar, rounded a corner and found myself facing a Dwarven Ruin, and it hit me Skyrim felt like Morrowind, not just in having Dwarven Ruins, but he whole old design feels like Morrowind.

Loving every minute of Skyrim!
