Graphic configuration

Post » Fri May 11, 2012 8:54 am

I am very happy with the graphics of skyrim, and already have 30 hours into the game...but I still find it hard to believe that my rig cannot run skyrim on max even though i am able to run bf3 on ultra& dx11(without anti-aliasing). I assume this is due to the terrible optimization of the pc version, but just wondering if anyone else is having trouble with this game being extremely tasking on your computer. I'm not really angry, just a bit disappointed that while the graphics are good, they aren't amazing enough to feel like I shouldn't be able to run the game on max.

Im running skyrim with a gtx 560 ti (msi hawk) on ultra settings. So far its good, but some bad textures and shadows. Seems to be an issue with the .ini, so hopefully will be fixed next patch. What graphics card/cpu do you have?

I havn't dropped under 50 yet although I did apply the ini changes before I even started the game so :\

I have AF and AA to max 16 and 8

Worst that has happen to me personally has been very random CTDs which I heard is caused by steam overlay and I will see if that helps

Yes the game isn't really optimized for pc but you can't really compare a shooter to a free roaming open world game.

I'm running it on an old AMD X2 250, ATI HD4850 512Mb and 4 Gb DDR2 ram on my HDMI t.v. I have it on ultra with medium shadows. Everything is on max and all that happens is it seems to catch for a split second every now and then when loading a new area. I thought it was well optimized, who knows, maybe my PC is possessed or sumfin.

I'm running an 8800gts 512mb, with a 3ghz dual core and 4 gig ram. Can't play it on anything better than low. :(

There's no real difference graphics wise between "high" and "ultra". The only real difference is the fact that "ultra" will try to render everything without dropping stuff hard to see anyway (so you see NPCs from further away etc.). In my case I'm getting some stuttering when running around with "ultra", so I assume it's simply due to the fact it has to load more compared to "high" and my hard disk isn't the fastest one out there. It has nothing to do with "poor optimization" or whatever. I'd even say there are more optimizations compared to a pc only game, cause consoles ARE far lower end machines compared to PC and you can't win everything by turning down graphics.
